The right finds a Ulvade scapegoat: Women

Tweet text:

It was a man who shot up the school and mostly men who utterly failed to do their job to rescue the children. But the right knows who they want to blame for the Uvalde murders: Women.

The right finds a Ulvade scapegoat: Women
Reminder: Most mass shooters are male and it was a mostly male police force who failed to save the victims

The self-exonerating stories from police after the mass shooting in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas keep falling apart. The already long list of corrections to initial police reports now has another addition: exoneration for the teacher who police falsely implicated in the shooting by claiming she propped open a back door that the shooter used to get into the school. The Texas Department of Safety has since revealed that the teacher actually did shut the door, but that it simply didn't lock as it should.

The Uvalde police's story has changed so often that the journalists who keep track of the shifting narrative deserve hazard pay. It's gotten so bad that the Uvalde police have stopped cooperating with the state investigation into the failures that led to cops standing outside the classroom while children locked in with an active shooter kept calling 911 and begging for help. The false story of the careless teacher looks now like yet another attempt to deflect blame from the cops. Scapegoating a school teacher is a particularly low move considering that it appears that the two teachers who died that day were among the few adults who had the courage to attempt to protect the children.

Male cops blaming a female teacher for their own failures fits right into a larger pattern on the right: Pinning the blame for this massacre, and all others like it, on women.

Before the bodies were even cold, in their effort to talk about anything but guns, Republican pundits and politicians zeroed right in on victim-blaming school staff for mass shootings. Most teachers are women, giving the Republican propaganda machine an opportunity to characterize schools as weak and feminine places supposedly in need of even more male protection. On Fox News, there was lots of chatter about schools being "soft" targets in need of "armed security agents" and other manly man figures to shield the women and children inside.

I guess they are used to getting away with these kinds of weasels and excuses. And too often there are cops that lie like they breathe. It’s just second nature, it’s the first thing they think of. They think “How are we going to make ourselves come out of this looking OK?” And also punish the people we think are the bad guy.

5. Maybe these RW motherfuckers ought to look at the countries run by women ...

... and take a look at gun violence in those countries.

Gun violence at this level is pure toxic masculinity. It is a purely societal problem coupled with way too easy access to killing machines. These are little boys so afraid they're not "man enough" killing others out of their insecurities.

All mass shooters have mama issues. Most of them have domestic violence issues. All of them are male. America is not raising boys well, and I don't mean this as criticism of mothers; I mean it as criticism of a society that turns away and makes excuses like "boys will be boys" rather than teaches and nurtures them to be caring individuals. The support system is just not here for boys who would rather be caring versus aggressive. And when they fail at being aggressive "enough"? Or when they feel like they fail at being aggressive "enough"? You end up with mass murder because our society gives them the tools with which to act on their frustrations and inadequacies.

Oh no, it's not women who are at fault. It's men. Once again, every accusation is a confession.

they went straight to stronger gun regulation after their mass shooting. Typical woman. No thoughts, no prayers, just government tyranny.

10. When you come right down to it, it's all women's fault

because they had the kids that put the manly men and their manly guns into danger.

If women stopped having kids, we wouldn't have to worry about fixing locks on school doors because we wouldn't need schools and manly men would have more money to spend on guns and ammo.

This could have been a lot worse, you know, thank god the guns were all right.

What chicken shit pigs these people are to try to blame their OWN, BLATANT cowardice and deadly incompetence on a woman!!! The whole fucking law enforcement of Texas can't do shit, so they're going to blame it on a female teacher!!! They're worse than dog shit. These men are absolutely an embarrassment to their entire gender. This should piss off men as much as it does women.

Didn't that teacher witness the shooter crashing his car and may not have seen him get out with a gun?

I think she might have been going for help for the guy thinking that he just had a car accident.

https://hillreporter.com/uvalde-teachers-lawyer-contradicts-police-over-key-piece-of-evidence-in-robb-elementary-massacre-132653
A lawyer for the teacher told the San Antonio Express-News that the teacher "saw the wreck" and then "ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, 'He has a gun!' She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside."

The lawyer added, "She kicked the rock away when she went back in. She remembers pulling the door closed while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would lock because that door is always supposed to be locked."

Texas authorities say a teacher closed a propped-open door before the attack AP 5/31/22

They have now determined that the teacher, who has not been identified, propped the door open with a rock, but then removed the rock and closed the door when she realized there was a shooter on campus, said Travis Considine, chief communications officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety. But, Considine said, the door did not lock.

"We did verify she closed the door. The door did not lock. We know that much and now investigators are looking into why it did not lock," Considine said.

. . . she ran back inside," removing the rock when she did, Considine said.

Teachers are constantly disrespected by the right and it definitely gender related. This latest move to blame a teacher is unforgivable.
