Should be interesting. I've followed the trial. She clearly lied her head off to take advantage of Me Too. He's a broken mess of anxiety and addiction. So . . . don't date either of these people.
Did she defame him? Seems pretty obvious she did. However, the law is not that straightforward, and defamation cases in this country are very, very hard to get a verdict on.
So, I'm about 50/50 on the verdict.
A small part of me thinks the jury will vote against both of them (Heard is counter-suiing). Pox on both your houses sort of thing.

(23,313 posts)If the psychologist is correct in stating that Heard is a borderline personality, it would make her quite difficult to deal with. Not that he's a peach either. I'm the child of a borderline...it has taken me a lifetime of therapy to move forward. They are almost impossible to deal with.

(9,073 posts)Dr. Curry, who was hired by Depp's team and interviewed Heard (also, she who brings the muffins).
It was kind of funny/weird. Dr. Curry explained all the behaviors associated with the disorder. Heard then got on the stand . . . and displayed all those behaviors.
Interesting enough.

(3,185 posts)They can be extremely difficult to deal with, you are 100% correct. My wife put in a lot of work in therapy to get her BPD under control a few years after we met, and she's doing really well now. Her mother, on the other hand... I can't say she hasn't tried, but she resists therapy with the "I'm too old to change" thing.
I've told my wife a few times that her mother nearly destroyed our marriage. When I first moved to Canada, I was here on a visa and couldn't legally work, so we ended up sharing a home with her mother. It was awful... the constant bouts of rage and screaming and throwing stuff and just being generally shitty and vindictive.
When my immigration came through, I went back to AZ to get my car and all my stuff. The night before I was due to set out for Canada, I went into my mom's little sewing room and broke down. I had a panic attack at the thought of going back and living in that house with my mother-in-law again. I delayed my departure a few more days, but I vividly remember driving out of Tucson and weeping at the thought of being in that house again.
So I can absolutely understand and sympathize even though I only endured it for a few years. I'm so sorry you had to experience it for so long, MontanaMama.

(26,260 posts)I didn't watch the trial but kept up by watching video clips. I think Amber has some deep issues. And I'm pretty sure her career in Hollywood is kaput. And if he wins, he will likely never seen any of the settlement. She probably spent the money she was supposed to donate to charities on her not too stellar defense team.
Despite any of his addiction issues, he is pretty much loved by all areas of the entertainment business that have worked with him.

If it is completed the question is will it actually make it to theaters, go straight to 'video' or end up on some cable channel. Only time will tell.
I've never seen anything she's done so I have no idea as to how talented she actually is. I know her acting coach wasn't singing her praises. But, she's a beautiful woman so maybe she will find her niche.

(26,068 posts)But the Depp PR machine has been working overtime, and all of you fell for it, too.

(9,952 posts)this is what I was seeing and was wondering. Thanks for your post.
She got caught in lies repeatedly. Depp is not a sympathetic character but it seems he has the better claim for defamation than she does.

My opinion is not based on PR. It is based on my own eyes and ears.

(3,567 posts)I lived with a woman with BPD for 4 years and it can be rough. Amber kind of ads an evil layer on top of that.

(26,260 posts)She could lie and lie and lie and deflect and deflect and deflect, and never, ever admit she had a single fault or ever did anything wrong.
I was one of her targets and it made my life a toxic misery for years. And nobody would (or maybe could) do anything about it as she had an ongoing litigation with the company.

(26,260 posts)It will be interesting to see how much work she gets, from this point on. I have no idea about her acting skills but she is quite a stunner.

(16,950 posts)the case was eventually dropped. The accused should sue her, but I'm sure he's just glad to be rid of her.

(1,476 posts)Elaine Bredehoft is considered a top lawyer in Virginia. When your client records themselves admitting to hitting their spouse and lamenting it was not a better hit, theres only so much you can do. Taking a big shit in their bed doesnt help your lawyer out much either. Then lying and saying he pushed Kate Moss down the stairs and Kate comes and testifies in HIS defense
No matter how good a lawyer is, they can only do so much with a flawed client and a bad case.
