Doctors Report Increase in Vasectomies Amid Reproductive Rights Debate

The number of men getting vasectomies appears to be increasing.

It comes at a time when reproductive rights are in the spotlight. Doctors say that’s no coincidence.

Clinics in Dallas and Austin say they're performing more vasectomies. Shaw said more than a half-million are performed annually in the U.S., and numbers at his four clinics in the Austin area increased 15-20% in the first quarter.

“We're seeing this uptick as we have conversations with patients in terms of what's bringing you in today, that new legislation both state and nationwide is really prompting people to take action,” Shaw said.

I won't be surprised to see the rates continue to rise for vasectomies. They're much cheaper than tubal ligation and recovery is faster, too.

I don't anticipate any attempts to control male bodies or choices, but it's going to be interesting to see the reactions.

Shut down my surgeon who was great after they acquired the provider. I should have left the organization, but I like my medical doctor.

5. I wonder how the Handmaid states would react if an organization

marketed the heck out of vasectomies to seniors in high school and college students. Hand out tracts that say something like the following:

Avoid paying child support
Keep your special lady safe
Etc

Pay high schoolers to hand out brochures during the same time the Christians hand out their literature.
