If we lose elections it is because of the MIND BOGGLING number of people, mostly under 40 I believe, who not only dont vote but think there is NO REASON to.

Almost none of them watch faux news.

In the '70s the there was the guns-or-butter debate.

We have the same debate, but the context's shifted. There is no "right" side. At times, (D) have been guns, (D) have been butter. In the late '60s/early '70s my mother was "butter" and I was "guns"--because NASA was put under "guns" (that is, not public services).
