(54,783 posts)and tell them how bad it is getting across the US and they got their 2nd boosters today. I got mine 2 months ago. My sister assured me she'll wear her N95 on the plane when she travels next week.
Look at the numbers and the US is definitely seeing another spike (the country's 7th wave in 2 1/2 years).

Right now FL and GA are seeing the highest number of new cases. Of course the real numbers are probably 3 times higher due to unreported cases from home test kits.

(16,344 posts)Roughly the same age as your kid.
He felt bad, took a rapid test and it was negative. Later that day I drove him (both of us masked) to a drive thru pcr test site.
24 hours later, results came back as positive.
He took another rapid test that day and it too was positive.
Just saying, if your kid still feels bad, consider testing again even if just a rapid test.

(13,849 posts)had covid a few weeks ago. She's young enough where isolating from her wasn't really in the cards. My husband Isolated and slept downstairs. She and I stayed in my room. She slept with me. We spent all day together for the duration of her isolation.
My hsuabd ended up getting it and I didn't.
The difference? I was double boosted. He wasn't. Timing and luck played a huge part in that.
Also, my daughter had the worst symptoms. She had a fever for two days. (High fever.) Felt bad. But then turned around and was fine. My husband had a mild fever overnight one night, then congestion for a few days. (Felt like it was a mild cold.) I had zero.
Despite being around both of them for a week and a half. I didn't mask in the house.
Point of this long diatribe: other than being disruptive, if you're vaccinated and boosted and have low levels of contact, there is a great chance that you own't get it. And if you do get it, there is a great chance it'll just be a mild inconvenience.
Best of luck to you.
