"And why do you want to keep it flying?" Selvig asked.
"Why would anyone want to erase our heritage?" the man replied.
"Well," Selvig responded, "some people would say that flag symbolizes racism, it symbolizes slavery, and they might have some valid points there."
"That's their opinion and they're welcome to their opinion if they want it," the man replied.
"Are you pro-slavery?" Selvig asked. "Are you against slavery?"
"No comment," the Trump supporter replied.
"But thank you for the interview," he added as he turned to walk away.
"I'll give you one more change," Selvig said. "Pro or anti slavery?"
"Uh, no comment," the man replied.
Selvig offered the man a third chance.
"I'll give you one more opportunity to say if you're pro or anti slavery," he said.
"No, no comment," the man replied.
"Alright, well there you have it. 'No comment' on the if you're in favor of slavery or not," Selvig said.

Use their idiotic argument against them. Make them see how stupid it is.

(11,730 posts)Avoids the slavery issue but pins them down. Either the Confederacy was an insurrection AGAINST AMERICA, or it was a foreign country fighting AGAINST AMERICA. Flying the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia is the same as flying the Iron Cross of Germany in WWI, the Rising Sun flag of Japan during WWII, or the German Flag of the third Reich during WWII. All of them were foreign countries who fought against The United States of America.
Pin them down. "Why are you flying a flag of either insurrection or of a foreign country who was at war with The United States?"
"You do realize that people who fought under that flag, renounced the United States and killed Americans right?"

(16,166 posts)he hasn't enough brains to articulate his thoughts but he's heard the phrase, "no comment" often enough to remember it.
I was going to say that if brains were dynamite he wouldn't have enough to blow his nose but in the sake of reaching out I won't.

(66,316 posts)It's like my patients who smoke. If it's not a 'no', it's a 'yes'.
"Do you smoke?" - "Uhh...". That's a yes.
"Do you smoke?" - "I'm trying to quit." That's a yes.
"Do you smoke?" - "I'm cutting down." That's a yes.
They never say 'yes'. They just fail to say no.
