(288 posts)He also feels the need to always carry a concealed gun to protect himself and his family. This "man" is always afraid - in his house, in his car, on the street, etc. Wow! In my 71 years, I have NEVER felt so afraid that I needed to carry a weapon of any kind. I have lived in cities, the suburbs, and in rural areas.
Finally, when another representative expresses the simple concern and caution that she hopes that the gun is not loaded, he snaps back with "I'm at my house. I can do whatever I want with my guns." What a schmuck. Couldn't even bother with a simple "thank you, I always try to be safe and keep my weapons unloaded unless I intend to shoot them."

(82,849 posts)For providing such a sterling example of the very problem we're here to address. Now quit whining, put down your little toy, sir, and we'll get back to business.

Hey, Greg, maybe these laws will save some lives? Ever think about that? Of course not, man-child.

(11,730 posts)If it bans auto loading handguns then yes, all of those firearms would be banned REGARDLESS of magazine size. So, he is being disingenuous by conflating the issue.
If the bill addresses only magazine capacity limits, then again, he is being DISINGENUOUS (shocker from a Republican!!) Either he is ignorant (in which case he should not own a firearm) or he is a liar. Magazines can be modified (easily I might add) to limit rounds they can hold. They will fit into the firearm they are manufactured for and a 20 round magazine can go down to 10, 7, 5, or whatever. He pulls out magazines that are not designed for the firearm then he says somehow the firearm will be banned because the magazine doesn't fit in it? WTF?!?
I live in California, where magazines cannot be made to hold more than 10 rounds. There are a lot of handguns and rifles that accept standard magazines that have been modified to reduce the capacity from 20, 30, 17, etc... to 10 rounds or less. They all fit into their respective firearms and nothing is banned in California because a 10 round magazine doesn't fit into it. Many particular firearms are banned in California but it has nothing to do with magazines not fitting.
Bottom line. The guy is a liar. He should have been called out on the lie, not necessarily on whether the gun was loaded.

(18,598 posts)I'm not sure what he was trying to prove. A magazine designed for one pistol won't fit a completely different pistol?... Duh

(41,959 posts)He has no respect for the guns he's waving around. He's raving about carrying "to protect my family and my wife" like someone who might well shoot someone he mistakes for a threat. He's antagonistic and disrespectful in lieu of trying to explain his point. Frankly, he hits a couple of the red flags.
