Did the negotiator think he would stop shooting to answer the phone? Or maybe one of the kids who were pretending to be dead would get up to hand the phone to him.

When I heard that on the news this morning, I couldn't believe the absolutely moronic statement. Let alone the fact the police thought this was a viable option as they were listening to the gunfire. The whole department needs to be fired and rebuilt from the ground up.
