1. Chilling and sad that it has come to this.

I thought getting under a desk during Cold War nuke drills was stupid. What is really stupid is we hold guns more important than life.

4. I stopped teaching K-6 about a month after Sandy Hook.

I can't sleep for a month after any school shooting. Teachers didn't expect to teach in this environment when they decided to join the profession. It is tough enough being a teacher today without this BS going on.

Kids listen very, very well. They follow instructions and they learn the drills quickly and at a young age. These drills are typical lessons for them now. This IS insanity.

I cannot believe we have to teach the children these tactics. It's not normal.

7. For any of you that don't work in a school

There is nothing worse than the "active shooter" drills.

You can't imagine the joy of sitting with crying children begging you to tell them if "it's real or not."
