BREAKING NEWS: CNN to quit with the constant 'Breaking News'

CNN cutting back on over-hyping everything as "breaking news"

CNN's new boss Chris Licht says that beginning today, CNN has added a "Breaking News” guideline to its stylebook, to address overuse of the breaking news banner across its network and cable news writ-large.

Why it matters: Licht and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav have made it a priority to dial back on partisan programming at CNN in favor of traditional journalism.

“We are truth-tellers, focused on informing, not alarming our viewers,” he said in the note obtained by Axios.

"You’ve already seen far less of the 'Breaking News' banner across our programming."

has the anchors focus on mass shooting events as a ratings grabber but abandon the "news" when time has passed since the ratings drop. Licht is a dick. I bet he is behind all the Biden bashing too.

I also change to something else after the local CBS evening news comes on with Nora going high stress.

I also avoid newsnation with Abrams and their other so called unbiased news. I don't get why the local station even push viewers to watch them when it would be during their own paid programming.

Hearing an anchor go off on his feelings or whatever, that's just not what I expect from the news. Of course it's probably a reaction against the other side which does that incessantly (in the other direction), but still - if it's not journalism I don't see the point. Give me the facts and I'll form my own opinion. That seems to be so out of fashion now that just watching the news on TV makes me feel old, so I don't do it.

Maybe this is a step in the right direction.
