Bloomberg dis' Obama

He can say he isn't but he is. By doing so he's denying New Yorkers the comfort that a presidential visit brings to victims of disasters. This comes right after his public criticism of our President as well as Romney in the NYT on 10/20. Looks like he has bigger political aspirations in the future. I was hoping that Obama and Cuomo would visit Long Island instead to expose Bloomberg's disrespect.

President Barack Obama will be getting a firsthand look at the damage done by the superstorm in New Jersey but not in New York City — and Mayor Michael Bloomberg is OK with that.

Bloomberg on Tuesday said he spoke to Obama and his chief of staff, Jack Lew, and told them the city would "love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do."

Bloomberg said that he wasn't trying to "dis" the president and that his trip to New Jersey on Wednesday would represent the whole region.

He also spoke highly of the relationship between federal and local officials. He said that on a conference call with the president and other mayors and governors of affected areas, everybody kept saying, "Thank you for the service."

2. The spin is just awful from Bloomberg and the media

Realistically - I saw that LaGuardia was under water and to try to bring an entourage in there would be a logistic nightmare.

I wish the "political" M$M would just stop. Their liar candidate is losing and they want to keep something stirred.

17. Where the fuck in my post did I say that the President "flies into LaGuardia"?

I made an observation about seeing pictures of one of the large domestic airports there that had runways under water, which to me is a significant event given that my airport here in Philly often takes the overload of the 3 big airports up there. Meaning that they have some real serious issues there that would make logistics a nightmare. You need to get your fucking facts straight.

So what entourage did you think they would be bringing through LaGuardia when the President doesn't fly into that airport?

to use the police to protect the president? Dont you think they will be more useful helping people. In addition, how are they supposed to land? Airports are closed?

Bloomberg literally has thousands of critical situations to handle in New York. He and his staff are working against time. He has the right to prioritize -- and believe me, a flyover by the President is about 200,000th on the list of things NYC needs to do right now.

With great respect for the President -- but, really, this OP is just trying to stir up crap when thousands of first responders have been working non-stop for days and cannot be spared for anything that is not life-threatening.

He can go to PA, MD, and even CT. But the president has to worry of not getting in the way.

I just don't understand how some here are making excuses for a rich republican who violently declared war on the occupy movement, detained people protesting Bush in 2004 and attacked the President in an interview last week. Bloomberg is clearly disrespecting the President.

Lots of crazy stuff going on. The best Obama can do is let Bloomberg know he's there just in case. Don't press the issue, like Romney probably would. Keep it low key so it doesn't look like a photo op.

So far, Obama has done an excellent job with federal response. And he's mature enough to reach out to some of his biggest critics, like Christie. Obama doesn't hold grudges or take things personally. He is truly a man of character.

Yes, it's a photo op and all the Presidential heavy lifting is being done behinds the scenes. Truth is I'd rather see him out there walking with Christie through Atlantic City than anywhere else right now. Bloomberg is hedging his bets, as usual, and I don't see him dissing President Obama...he said complimentary things about Federal response yesterday. Truth is there is a lot of work to do...damage to assess and clean up and I imagine to the victims this is far more important than politicians getting in the way.
