Russian state TV is now terrorizing citizens with a conspiracy theory that Germany and Japan⁠—egged on by the U.S.⁠—are getting ready to attack Russia, because aggression is in their genes.

Simultaneously. Dangerous for sure as he already feels an existential threat from NATO and other US alliances but anything that distracts his military and spreads its attention helps Ukraine.

I feel sorry for the Russian people who actually believe the propaganda. We all know how awful it feels when the "terror and fear!" agitators get going, even if we know their threats aren't true.
