Extraordinary opinion piece authored by Scalia and Stevens law clerks who worked on Heller case

I hope all can read this as I included the unlocked link. Both clerks agree Heller has been misused in important policy debates about our nation’s gun laws. Read this piece which gives you the tools to confront elected officials and others who claim the 2nd Amendment is unlimited.

Scalia's closing passage in Heller:

“the problem of handgun violence in this country” is serious and that the Constitution leaves the government with “a variety of tools for combating that problem, including some measures regulating handguns.” Heller merely established the constitutional baseline that the government may not disarm citizens in their homes. The opinion expressly recognized “presumptively lawful” regulations such as “laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms,” as well as bans on carrying weapons in “sensitive places,” like schools, and it noted with approval the “historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’” Heller also recognized the immense public interest in “prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill.”

(we now have several justices that are probably somewhat to the right of Scalia - and quite evidently not as interested in precedent. we will have to see where that takes us .. )

I wouldn’t say that any of the new justices are to Scalia’s right…

… but quite a few justices (possibly six) are well to the right of where Scalia needed to go to keep Kennedy on the reservation.

to 'pass along' some of the above opinion - to you elected representative(s). Not only is public sentiment quite weighted toward "sensible provisions" - but it is also supported in case law.

Great example of tfg and all his phoney followers. Look at how the laughing disappears as the circle jerk expands outward. The guys in back are all stone faced while the guys immediately around tfg are laughing hardily. Is that Steve Scalise next to Pence? Probably telling them all about the last time he evicted an African American family from one of his buildings and the raging hardon it gave him; "Honest guys it was this big" hahahaha oh Mr President you're just the best!

White parents should be forced to send their children to evangelical Christian schools where the girls will be indoctrinated in their only purpose as future mothers and wives or as concubines obeying the every whim of the men in their lives while the boys will be taught that they are God’s superior beings put on Earth to dominate women and all nonwhite people. Or parents could be forced to home school their children teaching only from the Bible. All the nonwhite kids will be forces to attend factory schools (for profit of course like the private prisons) to train them how to serve the master race. Hyperbole, but I swear there are Republicans who are already close to this position. They’ve done their best to try to destroy public schools, and they’re not done.

20 years ago I thought tasers would provide civilized forms of self-defense. Oh boy was I wrong as old Antonin himself.
