I checked TV guide and it shows regular programming, even on MSNBC. I can't believe MSNBC won't cover it all live. I would expect that CNN would, too. But honestly, at least one of the big networks should cover it. All of the Watergate hearings were live on at least one network. (Although they were during the day, at least in CA.)

(47,940 posts)I hope that's it.
When it showed regular programming for MSNBC, I thought maybe it will be updated.

(38,930 posts)don't cover it what is the point in having them?

(47,940 posts)Also, what will the networks show of it on the regular news? I hope they don't manage to turn it into "both sides."
Remember when the Democrats tried to overturn a questionable election? Never, that's when.

(6,115 posts)I prefer to watch hearings on CSPAN because they don't talk all over the proceedings.
IIRC, towards the end of the Ketanji Jackson Brown hearings the major cable networks stopped covering the confirmation hearings but you could watch on youtube.
THIS is a major, major event. It will be covered.
Watergate was live during the daytime and rebroadcast in prime time. I hope they will do this for the daytime hearings this time. Even if they don't, all of the cable news will replay the highlights ad nauseum.

(47,940 posts)And not for the better. I know cable will replay the highlights almost on a loop. I'd like for it to be live on CBS, NBC, ABC to make sure people watch.
I was really upset they didn't have broadcast hearings earlier, but I have to admit it'll be much better now than it could have been in February or April. And closer to the election.
The spring TV schedule is mostly done for the year, right? So IMO, the big three should cover the hearings. I hope they treat it with the seriousness it deserves.
I was 12 or 13 when Watergate was on during the summer when school was out, and I was absolutely glued to the TV. I didn't understand a lot of it but I was mesmerized.
It's also possible that they may schedule additional hearings later on, but I'm thinking it isn't likely.

(2,618 posts)They covered Clinton's impeachment so they sure as hell ought to cover this.

(47,940 posts)It would really be stupid not to. It sounds as if Pence's life was in serious danger. I can't believe he refused to get into that car because he had a job to do. It would have been an easy out for him to say the Secret Service told him he had to leave for his own protection.

(6,115 posts)The actual hearing won't start until 8 pm.
I'm actually surprised they're only giving themselves one hour before the start of the hearings to do the anticipatory dance.

(47,940 posts)I'll be darned sure to be done a few minutes earlier to get the TV on. Maybe make some popcorn, too.
