Grieving great grandfather asks police in Uvalde why they didnt do anything to help his great granddaughter who was murdered. A random White man tells him to stop living in the past. So on brand.

(12,388 posts)Things to people who are grieving. I went through it with even my own family members when my husband died. I was furious, and it took me years to forgive that shit.
It probably took every ounce of restraint of that grandfather, not to punch that jerk in his smug ass face.

a morose guy, forever with that weight in his mind. I have children. I can't even imagine them dying

Actually I hope the jerk who said that does get to experience this kind of pain so that he can understand it is NEVER in the past. Never.

(3,864 posts)I dont know who that person who said that is nor if they were sincere in trying to comfort. I can tell you one thing, when addressing a grieving parent, especially right after their loss, you shut your fucking mouth and let them grieve. There is nothing and I mean nothing anyone can say to relieve that grief. It is a human emotion that few, thank goodness, will ever have to experience themselves.
