(128,489 posts)But irony is that locally, the only mention of it on KYW was in the traffic report about the street closures on what is a very popular spot in the city - South St. (in this case, between 3rd & 5th).

(51,567 posts)South St is touristy, not dangerous. My house was around the corner where that one guy was shot...
"About 50 minutes later, a man was found nearby on the 1300 block of Waverly Street unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds." It's a quiet neighborhood.

(128,489 posts)The shooting apparently happened around the Headhouse Square area. I remember years ago when they were re-doing the area near the river and trying to get something going around Front St. and had that "Newmarket" thing that failed. Since then, they were finally able to re-do the area down at that end.
It's 5 am and KYW is NOW finally leading the news with this. Otherwise they had the robots going and the only way you knew was CBS national news' mention and the traffic report.

I don't think I would recognize it down there anymore.

(51,567 posts)and it seems there was another shooting by several people at the same intersection on Tues. They got a picture of one of the shooters and it was a woman. That's too much of a coincidence.

(128,489 posts)If you have these people "settling scores" after a dispute, and not caring who is around, it's going to be a nightmare. There would often be fights breaking out down there at some of the bars or clubs and that's always been the case, but people weren't whipping out guns in the middle of it.
I saw one report about someone shooting from a car. I know parking down there is difficult as it is.

(5,821 posts)... taking your life in your hands. A LOT of these shootings happen late on weekend nights. We had one in my city last weekend - a bunch of teenagers shooting at each other in the "old town" area where there are a lot of bars. No one was seriously injured but it was a shootout and the cops confiscated several illegally-owned guns.
Yet is it discouraging people from going out to the bars on weekend nights? Doesn't seem to.
