For the past several years, you have vilified teachers as being overpaid babysitters, pedophile-enabling groomers, radical leftists who encourage their students to embrace communism, homosexuality, gender fluidity, and to spurn religion, patriotism, and American values.
Now you want teachers to be armed.
So just out of curiosity, exactly which teachers among the aforementioned do you think should be protecting our children?
Do you prefer the groomers or the communists? Do you feel that the lazy babysitters would do a better job than the trans-gender pushers? Do you think the religion-haters are more trustworthy than the America-haters?
As you've repeatedly pointed out, teachers are far too incompetent to design their own lesson plans, and far too stupid to carry out their professional duties.
Therefore, it's up to you to pick-and-choose who among this group of inept, anti-American, child-abusing traitors are to be trained as expert marksmen who will take down a school shooter - while the "good guys with guns" wait outside in the parking lot, handcuffing distraught parents who think those "good guys" should actually be doing something to save their children.
And just as an aside, Republicans - if I had spent years promoting the belief that an entire profession was full of incompetent, America-hating, radical leftist, pedophile enablers, the last thing I'd be proposing is putting weapons in their hands.

(51,591 posts)when I was teaching my 23 1st graders. I would have made MORE babysitting individual students, A LOT more! Most teachers work 50+ hour weeks.

(6,917 posts)It shouldnt be a surprise anymore. Now its time for anti-hypocrite methods.
Those who could be educated already have, after the hearing tonight those who are uninformed will be.
That just leaves the remaining political hypocrites and theyre the enemy. Not oppositionenemy. I am upping my opposition level today. Not physical, psychological.
I sense the time has come to change my bedside manor. Patients who refuse to admit they are sick or refuse to take life-saving medicine need to be treated differently than cooperative patients.*

(4,992 posts)a concealed carry permit holder and I would not want to arm teachers.
Not everyone has the temperament to be a gun owner much less a concealed carry permit holder. A school, like any crowded area, is a zero error shooting environment.
- You cannot miss.
- You cannot use a gun or ammo that over-penetrates.
- You must be prepared to live with the consequences of drawing and firing your weapon.
I know very few people who meet these requirements.

They were both Korean War vets in their 50's that went through hell and back fighting over there. Trained by Uncle Sam and tested in battle. That, and in a town of 400 people, everyone knew everyone else, so there was a greater element of trust. Those two men taught my own father when he was my age.
I can't think of a single one of my daughter's teachers that I'd be OK carrying around her.
