(1,204 posts)Since Rachel is no longer on TV during the week, it seems I've lost interest in MSNBC...the entire line-up. She was the glue that held the whole group together. If Velshi is on, I'm lured back..temporarily.
At least I know Lawrence is still on at 10pm.

(81,261 posts)Rachel was appointment television every weeknight. And then she pulled the damn plug. And Ive been thoroughly annoyed about it ever since.

(36,055 posts)My Big Three are Nicole Wallace, Joy Reid and Lawrence O'Donnell.
Rachel? Meh. I don't care if she's there or not. I'm not loyal to news hosts who aren't loyal to their audience.
I love Ali Velshi and Mehdi Hasan, the two hardest working hosts on MSNBC.

(19,201 posts)Those were the big three in the past for events of this magnitude.
Rachel did move on the greener, and more monetarily lucrative, pastures. She worked extremely hard on her show and I think it was grinding her down. She earned her promotion and I don't hold a grudge about her moving on. It appears you do hold a grudge, so I'm going to be extra careful about not getting on your bad side.
Whatever her reasons, she's no longer with us nightly. I agree with you on Velshi and Hasan. They're more than competent replacements.

(36,055 posts)Adorable, but no worries about getting on my bad side.
I know she got us through a horrendous four years, andit did grind her down. However, commitment to one's audience is the feature of a good journalist. Now her Monday shows just don't do it for me, and O'Donnell's clear logic used for his dramatic accusations about the fascists in our government are good hardball analyses, better than hers. Just my opinion.
Both have roles to play, so no judgment of you here.

(19,201 posts)I would always want you to be you, dear ancianita.
Have a wonderful day. 👍

(19,201 posts)to seeing the whole gang and hearing their expert commentary. This is going to be a barn- burner, at least for we Democratic political junkies.
It's disheartening that many in our country aren't even paying attention to republicans destroying our democracy all around us. Nothing can wake them up I guess.

(205,320 posts)Including way too many in my district who keep voting for Stefanik! Most who I'm actual friends with feel the same way we do, but I have a friend I occasionally ride with now who seems to just tune out if I ever bring up politics. Actually, I didn't pay a lot of attention when I was working long hours, though I always voted. It took 9/11 to wake me up, that day scared me witless! And since I found DU, I watch more news than anything else and I can't imagine going back to the way I was, it's just gotten too damn scary!

(205,320 posts)Rachel Maddow alerts viewers that the first hearing by the January 6th Committee will be on Thursday, June 9 with special coverage on MSNBC beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Additionally, the audio of the hearing and related analysis from Rachel and her MSNBC colleagues will be uploaded to The Rachel Maddow Show podcast feed for those unable to watch live.

(19,201 posts)What a lineup! All the talent is ready, the House Committee is ready, and I'm almost ready. I'll have to take a little longer afternoon nap Thursday so I'll be fresh and rested for the show of the year.

(205,320 posts)ABC and CBS also have the hearings scheduled from 8-10 ET and I can't imagine that NBC won't get on board, too. So people who tune into their network affiliates will be forced to watch whether they intended to or not...

This time, though, Fox News will not be covering this hearing (maybe they're afraid it'll be too boring for their viewers? ). In any case, they'll leave Tucker/Hannity while shunting the hearing to Fox Business. If something happens they don't want to ignore, T/H may address it. (I set Tucker to record so I can take a peek in there).
But, this thread makes me wonder if a bunch of those Fox Dems won't be switching over to Maddow. And, if the new evidence of traitors attempting to overthrow the U.S. government by force becomes too boring, she could always do a reprise of some of her commentaries from the past.
