44% of Republicans believe mass shootings "something we have to accept as part of a free society"

...One of the questions in the poll asked respondents if they feel that mass shootings are "unfortunately something we have to accept as part of a free society" or "something we can prevent and stop if we really tried."

In response, 44% of Republicans said mass shootings are inevitable "as part of a free society." Meanwhile, 85% of Democrats and 73% of Independents said mass shootings are preventable "if we really tried."...

That the country needs to live in fear and grief just so these assholes can have their guns and ammo. This is not freedom.

is murdered in a mass shooting.

Too bad they don't only happen to those who defend mass shootings.

What is the precious "freedom" that the ammosexuals speak of? Is it the Overseer's Right, to summarily execute any slave that raises a hand to them?
The right to buy world-class terror weapons (in a slightly emasculated state) with "while you wait" credentialing, and do it on a credit card? It is harder to buy 3.2 beer than a high capacity magazine, for anyone under 21!

The republican base has been shrinking for a long time, but it's only that base that votes in a GOP primary election. Republicans comprise a minority of the voters but a GOP nominee has to get a majority of that minority to win. As the base shrinks, it has become more radicalized and, well, insane. So the winner in a GOP primary is always the one who is the most radicalized and, well, insane.

This "44% of republicans" is actually far less than that number when it comes to all voters. From that perspective, I suspect it's closer to the same 15 - 20% of all voters who believe things like the holocaust was a hoax or Hitler is still alive.
