I followed KO over there and never left. (Also I never could quite forget what Thom Hartmann said about MSNBC being owned by General Electric). These reports of their having a small audience are discouraging. What is wrong with people.

It's tough to compete with stations that are in the middle and low double digits if you are in the three digits.

Also, production value matters. It's been a while since I tuned in, but little things matter in terms of production value. Hate to say it but no one seems to do that better than Fox News. MSNBC is getting there, but the rest dont come close.

matter so fucking much (not necessarily to you, I understand what you're pointing out). I mean, look at Democracy Now! or TYT online....they're not over-produced, they're about the product delivered. Production values don't bug me so much, it sucks that people would be caring about that.

Not that my opinion is going to change what they think...

be static and boring. I love both of them and think it is a shame but the shows are boring to look at. Surely they could get better sets and formats, bring in some panelists, etc. I suspect they know this but don't have the budget to do anything more.

Chris Hayes' show is really nerdy but has a good set and format and it moves along. The panelists are smart, young, hip and fresh. Their faces are new, their ideas are thought provoking. So liberals CAN produce really good shows to rival and surpass Morning Joe.

This is a classic sign of a broadcaster in desperate straits.

I can't believe they canceled Vanguard.

If network ratings are so bad that it pays to repeat your best-rated program rather than fill in something else...

Or it could be worse, that they can't afford a show at adequate production quality for the timeslot.

I don't know why they don't dig into the million-and-one unaired documentaries out there.

along with other shows. Not to mention their prison porn plays on a loop over night. Are they hurting? MSNBC ratings are usually higher than CNN. Fox News also repeats their shows.

I already pay an arm and a leg to get MSNBC, they are on a lower tier, but not on the basic tier which carries both CNN & FOX News. What I don't understand about MSNBC, now that they are owned by Comcast, you would think they would want MSNBC to get the same exposure as CNN and FOX and put them on the basic tier. I have Sirius so get to listen to Stephanie on that. I have no progressive stations in my area.
