'A grand jury indicted Tarrio and Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl, and Dominic Pezzola...The indictment says that the five men did knowingly conspire, confederate, and agree, with other persons known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to oppose by force the authority of the Government of the United States and by force to prevent, hinder, and delay the execution of any law of the United States
. The purpose of the conspiracy was to oppose the lawful transfer of presidential power by force.'...Todays indictment says that Tarrio and his gang coordinated with the Oath Keepers.
... There is still hanging out there that at the presidential debate on September 29, 2020, about a month before the election, Trump told the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by. Then, on December 12, 2020, Tarrio published on the right-wing social media site Parler a photo of himself at the White House, saying that he had received a last minute invite to an undisclosed location. White House spokesperson Judd Deere later said: He did not have a meeting with the president, nor did the White House invite him.
...But the Tarrio indictments have always indicated there was something big afoot,...Between December 30 and December 31, 2020, TARRIO communicated multiple times with an individual whose identity is known to the grand jury. On December 30, 2020, this individual sent Tarrio a nine-page document titled, 1776 Returns. The document set forth a plan to occupy a few crucial buildings in Washington, D.C., on January 6, including House and Senate office buildings around the Capitol, with as many people as possible to show our politicians We the People are in charge.

(1,979 posts)Seeing an article where one of the PB had his pic taken in front of the WH and it said something about him meeting or having dinner with TFG - (trying to remember...) I just recall seeing it and being extremely concerned, wondering why in the world would someone like that be inside the WH meeting with the highest politicians in America, how did he even get past SS, etc. - it alarmed me and I have never forgotten it.
Now the puzzle piece just dropped into place.
I also remember when the news was reporting on activity between TT and D-bank and it was tracking "pings" of activity - this was before the election and it appeared that perhaps some money was being moved around. Again - it was reported and then dropped. I remember thinking that something very strange was going wrong and if they could see this happening, why wasn't someone looking into this?
Its been going on right under our noses since before the 2016 election. This has tendrils everywhere.

(43,044 posts)Insurrections are not spontaneously combustible events. The people involved are usually motivated, by money or other inducements. Even with the French Revolution, the Bastille, the November Revolution, the king pins were funded by someone and funded the horse soldiers.
1776 Mystery Man? To me, if I had to guess, which I'm sure none of you are waiting on, I think the term, the detailed plan, the title "1776 Returns" has the sense of history and drama worthy of Roger Stone. Or was he occupied elsewhere?

A president using goons to rough up people to influence an election sounds like something out of a shithole country.

I have little doubt that his minions were among the "anarchists" that left a lasting stain on my hometown.
I also have no doubt that it was part of the Trump conspiracy to fan the flames of a race war.

(808 posts)This part really resonated with me (especially that last sentence):
"For all their heroic talk, these men were not the good guys. They were plotting to oppose the lawful transfer of presidential power by force. That is, this ragtag crew plotted to take away from the majority of Americans their right, one of the four rights our Founders called unalienable, to consent to the government under which we live. That freedom to choose our own leaders was what 1776 meant, not the imposition of the will of a tyrannical minority on the rest of us."
It's pretty sad that even with a ton of evidence, this hearing will most likely not change the minds of the hard-core trump humpers. But I hope that it makes a huge impact on the rest of us who are sane and who care about our democracy. And above all, I hope there are finally harsh consequences for those who participated in this insurrection, especially those at the top.

(82,849 posts)I remember a brief flurry of reporting on the former guy telling his jack-booted thugs to stand by, but there was some nonsense excuse proffered by the administration, and the media forgot almost completely about it within days if not hours. The same thing happened with "Russia, if you're listening," which vanished like summer dew from media reports in the face of constant, steadfast denials by the former guy and his repeated invocation of the Russia Hoax. As if to say, "Oh! Well, if Donald Trump is calling it a hoax in the most self-serving manner, then it must be a hoax. Why would he say it otherwise?"

(81,392 posts)Both the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers storming the Capitol appeared to fancy themselves as heroic revolutionaries defending America. Clearly egged on by someone talking about revolution, they took up a great deal of space in social media and on private chats thumping their chests about revolution and 1776. Charles Donohoe, who was not charged here because he is cooperating with the Department of Justice, wrote that Washington, D.C., officials were limiting access to the city so that they can deny Trump has the Peoples support. We cant let them succeed. This government is run FOR the People, BY the People . Congress needs a reintroduction to that fact.
The Proud Boysand the Oath Keepers, tooalso talked about civil war. When president-elect Biden called for unity after he won the election, Tarrio posted a message on social media saying: F**k Unity. No quarter. Raise the black flag. On November 25, 2020, when Biden said, We need to remember: Were at war with a virusnot with each other, Tarrio reposted the statement and added, No, YOU need to remember the American people are at war with YOU. No Trump No peace. No quarter. And January 20, the day of Bidens inauguration, one Oath Keeper messaged another: After this if nothing happens its [sic] war Civil War 2.0.
For all their heroic talk, these men were not the good guys. They were plotting to oppose the lawful transfer of presidential power by force. That is, this ragtag crew plotted to take away from the majority of Americans their right, one of the four rights our Founders called unalienable, to consent to the government under which we live. (5,331 posts)They are all disgruntled individuals, low intelligence, low life skills.
Feeling that life and America, has not delivered on the things they promised themselves.
They all subscribe to the Anarchists' dictum, tear down the system and something much more to their liking will blossom in it's place spontaneously.
Never mind that American Democracy, with all it's flaws and shortcomings, took centuries to evolve to where it is today.
'Blossom in it's place spontaneously?' . . . . No, I don't think so. At the very least, that is delusional.
