Seditious conspiracy

Did any of you see Rachel Maddow last night? She opened her show illustrating how hard it is to prove seditious conspiracy in court, with two cases from 1988 and 2010. In both cases, everyone who was charged in these "militia" groups not only were acquitted, they were given all their weapons back (the Feds confiscated arsenals, literal arsenals of weapons).

I started getting depressed that these motherfuckers would be acquitted as well, because in modern history, there's never been a successful prosecution of seditious conspiracy.

Then she pointed something out: the DOJ charged SIXTEEN people with seditious conspiracy related to January 6. And FOUR of them have already pleaded guilty, and they are cooperating.

Rachel Maddow is certain that the DOJ has the goods on these motherfuckers, because Garland is cautious and he would not have charged 16 people with seditious conspiracy knowing the recent modern history of failed prosecutions unless he was sure he could convict. Rachel Maddow is certain that convictions are likely.

I came away with some hope that those who pleaded guilty are going to nail the others. I came away with some hope that the new charges may also bring guilty pleas and cooperation to nail more motherfuckers.

would only bring that charge if he knew he could indict and secure a guilty plea..Garland understands he has one shot at "getting" Trump...I think that's why he declined to charge Meadows with contempt of Congress for defying the J6 subpoena, drop a lesser charge, while waving multiple charges of treason and sedition in his face..Meadows, coup central, is in deep shit and he knows it.. if he wants any kind of a deal he has to cooperate, flip on Trump, and provide evidence of Trump's direct seditious involvement in the coup...

3. I have been assured right here on DU that Garland will do nothing.

Those offering those assurances quote semi-powerful people who were once employed by the DOJ in the past, or who have blogs. One poster claimed to have his own "investigators" who tell him that Garland will do nothing. So, why would I listen to Rachel Maddow or listing to someone who says that some perps have already pled guilty and will testify?

As for myself, I have no such experts I can call on, so I don't know what Garland will do. So far, though, he appears to have been working steadily on this. But, what do I know?

Rachel has a free podcast. Various podcast apps for Android and Apple carry it, but you can also find it online at podcast spots like this one:

Just imagine, if you will, that the J6 committee and/or the DOJ manages to get their hands on solid evidence proving the orange motherfucker engaged in seditious conspiracy. Maybe one of those already indicted provides them with real evidence, such as an email trail. Imagine what indicting the orange motherfucker may look like. He is arrested. There's a perp walk. He's let out on bail. He continues to stage his hate rallies and continues to spew lies. They slap a gag order on him. He violates it. He's tossed in jail. He has to shut the fuck up.

Ah, it's nice to dream.
