otherwise the loons will just go into Denver and stock up.

And it's not just big ugly guns, it's semi auto pistols that need to go.

Mass killings won't stop, the Texas tower killer had a hunting rifle. However, getting semi auto guns out of our country will make us all a lot safer. They make mass killing too easy.

maybe the reps from that district will start catching a clue that maybe that NRA money isn't as great as it once looked and they could lose the cushiest jobs theyever had. That is a great motivation for getting gun law religion.

Are you in Canada or South America? I must admit I don't know where the other mile high city is unless you're in Leadville which is almost two miles high.

Santa Fe and Taos are both about 7500 feet. I live at about 6000 feet, water boils at 200F chez Warpy. This city is 4950 beet at the river on the southern city limit, 6600 feet at the tram station, which whisks you up to 10,660 feet.

It's a rift valley with weird geology. Locally, it's sedimentary rock that has cracked and lifted. To the west, it's multiple volcanic escarpments, blackened "bumps" on the horizon showing where the oldest volcanoes were, Mt. Taylor 60 miles to the west. The uplifted mountains to the east show the tuff layers deposited by the Toledo and Valles supereruptions clearly. Geology is writ large in NM, there is little vegetation to obscure it because there's little rain to erode it.

But yes, there are other cities up in the clouds. I just wish those clouds would produce some rain.

Unfortunately, shooters here still seem to prefer alcohol. Semi auto guns mean it doesn't matter if their aim is a little off, one of the 15 or so bullets will probably find the intended target.

However, under a 2007 amendment many assault weapons are now allowed in Denver, except for those with a high capacity magazine of 15 rounds or more. This means that an AR15 with a 14 round magazine is not considered an assault weapon under Denver's ordinance. However, if the same rifle had 16 or more rounds in it, it would be considered an assault weapon.

weapons with the town of Superior (scene of the Marshall Fire in addition to Louisville) passing their ordinance as well. Nearby Lafayette is expected to pass at their next meeting.

Louisville passes new gun laws
Louisville’s council unanimously passed six gun ordinances on their second reading. According to the council’s agenda, the ordinances will enact the following measures:

Ban the sale and possession of assault weapons, large-capacity magazines and rapid-fire trigger activators, and establishing a minimum age to possess firearms
Prohibit the carrying of firearms in certain public places
Prohibit the open carrying of firearms in public places
Require all firearm dealers to post signs at all locations where firearm transfers take place
Require a waiting period prior to the sale of firearms
Regulate the possession of unfinished frames and receivers, and unserialized firearms

Lafayette advances new gun laws
Lafayette advanced a resolution and four ordinances on first reading Tuesday night. There will be a second reading at an upcoming meeting. If they all pass on the second reading, the new laws will take effect 10 days later.

The resolution expresses the council’s “strong support for Colorado local governments enacting and enforcing local firearms regulations, and imploring the Colorado General Assembly to enact statewide laws to address gun violence and prevention.”

According to the council’s agenda, the four ordinances would:

Regulate the possession of unfinished frames and receivers and unserialized firearms
Require all firearm dealers to post signs at all locations where firearm transfers take place
Prohibit the open carrying of firearms in public places
Prohibit the carrying of firearms on city property
An amendment was unanimously added to include an exception for residents bringing weapons or parts to the Lafayette Police Department for destruction, city spokesperson Debbie Wilmot said.

Superior passes new gun laws
In Superior on Tuesday night, the town Board of Trustees passed the ordinances unanimously

“The proposed ordinance address assault weapons, large-capacity magazines, trigger activators, and otherwise regulates the purchase and sale of firearms in Superior in ways calculated to reduce threats to residents in public places and the risk of impulsive suicide or crime posed by easy-to-obtain firearms,” the board’s agenda read.
