Turning Point USA held its Young Women's Leadership Summit over the weekend. The event appears to have been designed to convince their high school- and college-aged audience to become subservient, Christian mothers as soon as possible.
Or, as Benny Johnson put it, "keep having babies" to make "more Americans."
Madeline Peltz of Media Matters for America reported on the conference, which promised "first-class activism and leadership training" for "cuteservatives."
The best way for women to be activist leaders, the group says, is by wedding and bedding someone who tells them what to do.

(46,080 posts)In the Seventies, I attended a well-respected independent women's college.
The low point came when the wife of the President of this college remarked that the highest calling of any woman was to have children.
We were busting out butts to prepare for classes of Logic, European Civilization, Eighteen Century American Economy, and such. And here she was, telling us that it was less than pushing a baby out and raising it.

(9,117 posts)Weve already seen right-wing practices regarding pre-natal, obstetric, and infant care for decades. Weve watched them guy Planned Parenthood budgets for decades. Weve seen cut budgets for poor mothers in urban areas and rural health-care programs, too.
Its not just for people of color. Lets get real: Appalachia and the Ozarks arent high density minority areas.
Personally, I think that so-called crisis pregnancy centers are perfect examples of the sorts of bogus health-care programs the right would foist on us. They seldom, if ever, offer medical exams, they seldom offer treatments for mothers and infants in health- or life-threatening medical circumstances, and their idea of help for impoverished, desperate mothers are used or cut-rate baby clothes or maybe a second- or third-hand bassinets or infant car seat.
By their works shall we know them.
