I just saw a review on YouTube of a trailer for the new Pinocchio movie, saying how much outrage there is that it is so "woke." Their problem seems to be that there is a black fairy godmother. They are sick! Instead of hiding behind the word "woke," they should just come out and say, "I'm a racist!"

What sickens me is that I've seen "woke" thrown around here occasionally this year, usually on LGBTQ issues. As much as I'd love to say that "woke" as a pejorative is exclusive solely to the right, no... We have those who would like the Democrats to be "less woke" themselves, especially when it comes to the human rights of others besides them.

Once again, we are letting the extreme-right phrase the narrative in this country, and it's time to stop. We need to respond more often to those ranting about "wokeness" by saying the opposite of "woke" is "asleep", and that these are the idiots sleepwalking through life.

Calling them out as racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/xenophobic is also good. You wanna watch hardcore, rugged tough guys lose their shit at warp speed? Call them a bigot or racist when they act like a bigot. They'll meltdown faster than a snowball on Mercury. They sure love to talk shit about anyone who isn't a white cishet male and act like tough guys doing so. 17. Maybe you should set up a system of woke checks.

If someone says they haven’t seen 2016 Ghostbusters, they’re racist. If their reason is “they just like the original”, they’re a racist and their opinion is triggering and violent.

If some knucklehead tries to say “hey, I grew up watching the Alien movies and loved Ripley as the main character, I just don’t like superhero movies and have no interest in seeing Wonder Woman”, you tell them that is sexist and their liking of Ripley doesn’t count. You know better than them what they are thinking.

Edit:

Of course they could catch on and start just saying they’ve seen the required viewing material, so when they do give the correct answer on having seen this or that film, you need to grill them and ask them why they liked it and the significance of what makes the movie so progressive.
