Will Justice Be Done?

First of all, this is not a criticism of Merrick Garland.

This is about who is left to save our democracy?

Our Founders created three branches of government, all with the balance of power. In my opinion, two of the branches, the Executive and the Legislative, have been corrupted by power and money and are on life support. They are barely hanging on.

In their wisdom, they did not put the Department of Justice, or the Attorney General, under the Judicial Branch, although they work the process of justice through the Judicial Branch.

Again, in my opinion, we have reached a point where our system can only be saved by our Justice System and the Judicial Branch. The weight of responsibility has been laid on the shoulders of our Department of Justice.

They have been put into a predicament where there can be no quick or spontaneous decisions, as much as many have been demanding it. Merrick Garland is a cautious and wise man but the time is near, when the nation calls for courage and decisiveness. Corrupt and criminal politicians must be held to account.

We cannot sugarcoat the attack upon our Capitol by a mob of hoodlums, along with a brain-washed cult of the former president. There is no way to whitewash it or to cover it up. It must be confronted.

To neglect the rule of law at this time would only quicken the demise of our democracy. The job must be methodical and just, but it must be done.

1. Though we disagree on our opinions about the answer, this is the question all of us have.

There is just no way to know the answer till it happens or doesn't.

2. The hearings are going to lay out in detail all the crimes committed.

Most likely the pressure on Garland and the DOJ will increase after the hearings. I imagine we will see the investigations intensify over the coming months. At some point we will all get the answer we are all looking for. Will The DOJ indict the leaders of the coup or not.

3. In hindsight, I think it was appropriate for the DOJ to let the Committee uncover the conspiracy.

It was too big of a job for the DOJ alone. It was a massive conspiracy with many, many players. Politics dictated that the people needed to be educated on what happened on January 6th and why? With that job almost completed, the DOJ is standing on much more solid ground.

5. I think the Committee will still uncover a lot more before the election.

These hearings do not mean they are shutting down the Committee. They knew they had to report to the public at some time. They still have a lot of work to do and it will probably be earthshaking. I do not think they are going away.

In may ways, this process is only beginning. I know, I know, the J6 committee has been investigating this for about a year already, and the DOJ has actually been working on prosecutions all along. But We The People have yet to be informed of exactly what happened and who is responsible so that we are no longer guessing. That starts tomorrow. Our education and the public knowledge of the depth of these crimes will be known soon. So it's really the beginning of OUR engagement.

Once we know, I fully believe it is up to We The People to DEMAND justice to defend our democracy. It isn't acceptable to sit back passively. Our country is worth every single one of us making our voices heard. That's what this country is about and I am not giving it to the fascists without a fight. We are not helpless. We have a voice. We have to fight for this country. We have to fight like the fucking insurrectionists fought. Let's take our country back.

My hope is that there will be public demonstrations in front of the DOJ demanding prosecutions. If Merrick Garland was terrified of actions looking political, having massive public demonstrations demanding justice gives him cover. It is our country and we have voices. We may be stuck with Garland, but that doesn't mean we have to be passive. Let's push him.

At the least, I intend to make phone calls and write letters to the DOJ and my senators and representative, demanding justice. We all need to use our voices to pressure these institutions to act, once we know the depth of the conspiracy to tear this country apart. We have the right to justice and we need to let them all know we expect action.

7. Just my opinion...

...but I think there probably will be much more pressure on AG Garland to act after these hearings are over. There will be protests if some feel he is not moving quickly enough.

That is not a bad thing, in my opinion. Although we may disagree with the pace of the investigation up to this point, I think it has been just about right. Slow but necessary. This Committee is made up of modern-day heroes, in my opinion.

9. Right. I think there will be a lot of pushback

My hope is that ALL OF US will engage. It is not acceptable to sit back and let others do the work, IMO. We need to act as if it is up to each of us personally to save democracy. In the essence, it really is.

This is the biggest crime against America in our 246-year history. If it takes time for justice to be served, it just takes time. Of course I wanted to see the orange motherfucker in prison long ago, but I'd rather settle for "eventually" than "never." Of course, we still run the risk of him never seeing a day in prison but I am sure that if they rushed to a prosecution without having the entire conspiracy mapped out, he'd surely have been acquitted. then then he couldn't be tried again due to double jeopardy, so it's worth doing right.

No one should retain the excuse that "I did not know". The nations eyes will be wide open. Whether they choose to see is another question.

In the end, we may have to settle for a "political" sentence?

even whole states ignore court rulings and refuse to follow the law without consequences who do we turn to ? The rule now seems if you don't like the law ignore it and do what you want. Start enforcing laws on everyone especially those at the top as they should know better so should the DOJ'S across the country.

10. I have a thought on this, and while I may be giving Democrats way too much credit...

...it seems fairly plausible to me. I think the January 6 committee has known for a good while that serious crimes were committed, and I think in the end, multiple Trump administration officials and even some sitting members of congress may end up with felony charges. But, in taking a strategic view, they know the public, in general, has a very, very short memory span. So, in using this as something of a firewall for the midterms, they've deliberately slow-walked this to get the meat of things coming out right as the midterms are kicking off in earnest. This has the potential to dominate the news cycles for the majority of the summer. It could also quill any ambitions Trump may have for 2024 because he's looking at keeping his cheeto orange ass out of jail. Now, all the "Trump candidates" will be forced to defend him, and that is not going to be a good look. I don't know. It sounds legit to me.

If not, then liberals should resort to civil disobedience to save our democratic republic. If it appears that justice is not going to be done, then we should protest vehemently. We should take it to the streets. I do not see any other option? Any ideas?
