Mitch McConnell understands when he has to give up a little to keep control of the whole.

His supporters trust him to not give away the store.

That appears to be his strategy with raising the age for purchase of military assault weapons.

With the passions high and unpredictable voters on the issue, Mitch knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. He is willing to give an inch under the present circumstances.

When, in fact, they should be surrendering much more. The demands should be much stronger on the Republicans. Otherwise, make it a campaign issue at the top of the agenda.

These types of weapons should never be seen in public, in my opinion.

The media took the bait. I say, make him speak explicitly and say he will back change on assault weapons. Frankly, I think he’s scared. His name may well be on more than one hit list. Getting too close to home.
