There are more millions of us than there are millions of them.

We basically want to be left alone to live our lives, raise our children and pursue happiness in our own way.

We do not want to be told who to love or which religious faith---if any---we should profess.

We understand that "AR 15s are sporting rifles" is a damned lie and that some among us truly believe that "might makes right".

We are willing to tolerate those who look, dress or worship differently than us as long as they do not seek to impose their differences on us.

We are willing to pay our taxes and make sacrifices for the good of our nation, but we want those burdens shared fairly with even the most wealthy and privileged among us.

We are neither extremely liberal nor extremely conservative, though that does not mean we are "moderates" or "centrists"..

We believe in honesty, responsibility, social justice---and love.

There are more of us than there are of them---and we should insist that OUR views be respected.

I don't think so, other than a few instances. It's a strategy for the Repukes to rule us when they are the minority party.

several govermental practices are cited which each favor minoroti rule, and collectivelt make it virtually inevvitable -

gerrymanderng
campaign finance
the filibuster
the sebate
the electoral college

It's a wonder we have any democracy left at all as it is. They all need to go. I think the filibuster should be forst, since it neither in the Constitution nor in any laws anywhere.

Next, we need legislations to deal with campaign finance and gerrymandering - legislation with teeth.

Then I think the Electoral College - and I still believe the way to get rid of that is by getting enough states to join the National Popular Vote Copmpact. Eric Holder has been working on that, and it is close to covering enough electoral votes to go into effect. I don't think it can or could ever be adopted as an amendment untila nd unless the Compact has demonstrated its worth first, so I am all in on it. My state has passed it. Has yours?

Finally, we need to reform the Senate. I really don't have an answer to that one . However, IIRC 49 states have states Senates or the like (I think Montana is the only state which is unicameral? But don't quote me.) Don't most of them have ways of determining Senate districts that are more equitable than, say, two reps percounty? I know mine does. There has to be some guidance there.

The Electoral College and the Senate both being in the Constitution makes reforming both much more difficult. But not impossib;e.

The MORE we INSIST, the MORE they RESIST.

There is a good thread here that explains the warped rational behind it.

IF we could get our way by insisting, I agree. We have every right to do so.

I just think it's like dealing with a 3 year old budding engineer. He has toys that can kill and is not afraid to use them because he does not truly understand the meaning of life or death.

BUT if we found a way to make them see the NRA is USING them and only wants their money and doesn't care about THEIR kids... it might work.

Right. Everyone can relax and go back to sleep. It'll all be OK.

Republicon fascists aren't scheming. They're not plotting. They haven't been putting things into place to seize and keep power despite being a minority.

We have nothing to worry about.

Yes, Biden won. I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that DESPITE being SEVEN MILLION votes ahead of the Orange Anus, had a few tens of thousands of votes gone the other way in a handful of states, that Orange Anus would still be in the oval office despite LOSING by SEVEN MILLION votes. That's not "doom and gloom". That's reality and it needs to be dealt with.

30% (at most) of the country is cementing a permanent position of power, like Putin. Americans badly want Fascism, or, don’t care.

Americans are perfectly fine with, if not favorable to Fascism if it lets them feel powerful than “those below them.” Truth be told, the White, Straight, Cis, Middle Class’s lives won’t change that much, and, they know it. It doesn’t matter to them who is in charge.

The rest of us, they can’t leave alone. They want to kill us all, and they won’t be happy until they do. This is their country, not ours, in their opinion. We are just hostile invaders to be dealt with, and, Fascism is the cure.

I’m feeling doom approaching on the horizon. Talk me down. I feel like Biden is a bandaid over a failing system that’s going to collapse into Authoritarianism, and, most of the country is so desensitized to violence, tribalism, and Fascist rhetoric that they don’t care.

At very minimum, voting for politicians who will respect those views and put through legislation that supports your view.

The problem is that the "millions more" of us cannot be bothered to vote. The highest turnout in the last 60 years for voting was a mere 60% of eligible voters when Biden kicked Trump out of office.

The trick is convincing the apathetic and disaffected to come out to vote and get active in political life.
