House GOP candidate shares post claiming Buffalo, Uvalde shootings were false flag operations

A congressional candidate in New York endorsed by a member of House GOP leadership recently shared a Facebook post claiming the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, were false flag operations.

Carl Paladino, a Buffalo businessman and former candidate for governor, reposted a conspiracy theory-laced message by another person casting doubt on whether the shootings at a supermarket in Buffalo and an elementary school in Uvalde were real, according to screenshots of the since-deleted post from Wednesday captured by the watchdog group Media Matters for America.

Paladino has been endorsed by Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, the No. 3 Republican in the House. He is running for the seat held by GOP Rep. Chris Jacobs, who recently announced he was ending his re-election bid after he came out in support of a federal ban on so-called assault weapons. The 23rd Congressional District includes suburbs of Buffalo.

"I am proud to announce my endorsement of my friend Carl Paladino in NY-23," Stefanik wrote in a Facebook post Friday. "Carl is a job creator and conservative outsider who will be a tireless fighter for the people of New York in our fight to put America First to save the country."

Conspiracy loons have always been out there, but I don't recall so many of them being serious contenders* for elected office in decades past.

*This is in no way meant to imply that they are serious people.

But Carl Paladino for the 23rd district? FFS, that is MY district. We just got rid of Tim Reed, the drunken sex predator who was elected in 2010 as a Tea Party candidate. He resigned a couple weeks ago to work with a lobbying firm associated with Manafort.

Paladino is a POS. Like his idol, Trump, he is a real estate developer. He was on the Buffalo school board a few years back, stirring up racial divisions. After racist retweets about Michelle and Barack Obama, plus local remarks, he was successfully removed from the school board, not by an election, but through court filings.

He is as despicable as they come. During his run for NY Governor, he talked about "taking out" certain people. His voice and choices of words sound like something out of The Godfather. That is not intended as a slur on Italians. Donald Trump also sounds like a mobster.

There is a special election in August to replace Reed, then the regular election in November.

I despised Reed. There are no words in English for the depths of my loathing of Paladino. I will be very busy between now and August, and August and November.

Paladino cannot be allowed to take this district!!!

to run as a candidate who wants to repeal the Second Amendment?

Given the apparent tolerance for "fringe" points of view?

children are slaughtered with an AR-15, it's most likely NOT a red flag operation!

But when someone shows up at a Supreme Court justice's home with a handgun and a knife and then CALLS THE POLICE, tells them what he's about to do, and then waits for them to show up and arrest him . . . ! Now that sounds like a red flag operation.

The details about today's would-be assailant on Brett Kavanaugh are still coming out.

Hope I'm just being paranoid, but it seems really fishy, and so like the extreme right to start accusing others of something that they are in the process of doing at that exact moment.
