In fact, I think it's okay to sell models that hold more shells (I remember my Dad's could hold at least 4 shells) but when duck hunting, you can only have 3 shells loaded.

They should be publicly shamed to have passed laws like that one while denying our children (at least) the same consideration.

Maybe that's why they aren't showing their faces.

Texas doesn't legally allow people to kill children or adults (with few exceptions).

Does Rep McGovern not know this?

Makes total sense to me. Seems like gun-humpers are not capable of loving real, living children.

Duck hunters rarely use AR-15 style rifles. Although the dumbest ones probably do. They won't have much duck available to eat.

Along these lines, sure AR-15 lovers say it's great for wild hogs and coyotes and other nuisance animals like that. It's the difference between killing and hunting. It's great for killing things but not to hunt for food.

An AR is far less powerful than most hunting rifles intended for medium to large game. Why would an AR be great for killing an animal only if you don't intend on eating it?

It's not something inherent to the AR or the .223/5.56mm cartridge and it doesn't effect its ability to take game for food. It's real limit in that respect is that it is simply not powerful enough to ethically take game at normal hunting distances. The classic .30-30 or .30-06 rounds are much better suited, but will do similar if not more damage to the meat.

There is nothing special about the ammunition commonly used in the AR-15. It's a light, small caliber rifle round. It's underpowered compared to most hunting rounds and there is nothing about it that makes it more damaging to its target relative to other cartridges.

For caring more about preserving the Duck population so you can continue to shoot at it than you do for the children who are the very future of your state, SHAME ON YOU.

It's not really the same point - but - no hunter worthy of the name needs a semi-automatic rifle that will fire more than two shots in semi-automatic mode. If a hunter hasn't hit a deer in two shots, they should never have taken the first shot.

I live on the edge of town. I often hear rifle fire on fall mornings. If I hear one shot, my response is "someone got a deer." If I hear two shots, my response is "maybe someone got a deer." If I hear three (or more) shots, my response is "that deer got away, I hope the other hunters were so lucky."
