(8,739 posts)For kids that got decapitated as described by the Pediatrician Doctor on Lawrence ODonnell that was at the Hospital receiving those Kids in UValdae. The AR 15 literally blew their damn heads off.

(23,314 posts)Our kiddos wear backpacks in and out the school building. Most of them put their backpacks in a cubby or a locker and dont carry them around all day. My high school junior chose to forgo a locker assignment this year He carries around his backpack all day every day. It weighs at least 30 pounds. It has all of his books and his lunch box. In case I need to say that again, his backpack weighs at least 30 pounds and he carries it all day every day. He tells me that if someone starts shooting at least his giant backpack is some level of protection And he understands that it is no protection against an AR style weapon. My 17-year-old understands that its only a matter of time. This weighs heavy. Im exhausted. So is he.

(100,070 posts)We can't get rid of assault weapons like we should. But we can give kids bulletproof backpacks and make them participate in mass shooter drills. Neither of which would help much should you find yourself in that situation.
