We were in a shock throughout the viewing of "The Janes" on HBO

To think that we are going backward. And worse. At least in the days before Roe snitches were not rewarded. And the general attitude of the Chicago Police Dept. the Homicide division was to let them alone.

It was amazing that for most of the time their "abortionist" was a guy who was taught by a surgeon but who used to work in constructions.

Once they realized it, they started performing the abortions themselves, in an apartment. All they needed was the dilators and the curettes. I wonder whether this will be the next step, individuals not trained in medicine performing abortions in private homes.

And, yes, the condescending attitudes of their first male comrades fighting the fights of the 60s, doctors, lawyers.

Neither diaphragms nor pills were prescribed to unmarried women. So the suggestion was to go to Woolworth and for $5.00 buy a gold band and have a doctor appointment as Mrs. so and so.

Quite depressing.

The choice was a back alley in Little Havana or not. Never thought I’d see those days again

I found it remarkable that once Roe became law, the septic abortion unit at the Chicago hospital was closed due to no longer being needed. Of course. I wonder how many hospitals have been preparing to reopen septic abortion units if the Supremes decide to reverse Roe.
