How Trump and the GOP drove up gas prices

Remember prices are subject to the laws of supply and demand, Trump and the GOP worked hard to drive up demand which caused prices to spike

Thanks to the GOP and Trump gas prices have never been higher thanks to all their efforts to increase the demand for gasoline. Some of the ways they are costing us huge amounts of money include:

Trump rolling back MPG minimums for automakers
Trump followers and their giant gas-guzzling pickups and mega-SUVs
Elon Musk making all his employees return to the office
MAGA vehicle parades
The right-wing "people's convoy"
Trump imposing tariffs on solar panels
Trump constantly bashing wind power

Is there any way to invoke the Defense Production Act to force these drillers and gas refineries to produce more?

Early this morning Sky News (UK) reported that some are paying more than 100£ ($125) to fill up their vehicle.

I don't know how much of TFG's crap affects pump prices in the U.K. Sorta suspect just putting TFG in the Oval Office for 4 years gave the green light to corrupt predatory capitalists everywhere who may not want to stop. Like Putin.

8. Supply and demand don't apply to these high gas prices!

There are no gas shortages driving up demand, no gas stations with long lines of cars waiting for fuel.

This is gouging, make no mistake about it.

until people stop forking over their money to them. Few are cutting back on driving. They're not slowing down. They're still buying gas guzzlers. Nothing is going to change until the consumers change. That holds for groceries and other purchases, as well.

10. Well, these things have certainly exacerbated the situation.

As have all the lead-foots out there who refuse to SLOW THE FUCK DOWN, wasting even more fuel. That's not just the MAGA crowd doing that, either. People of all stripes have decided that speed limits are just a suggestion. But, you neglect to mention one of the biggest bottlenecks: reduced refining capacity. Several refineries are shut down due to things like storm damage and fires/explosions. It's about to get worse, after one of the bigger ones goes down for repairs. It's over 100 years old, and like many of them, is decrepit. Meanwhile, their owners would rather put their profits back into stockholder shares, rather than upgrades or new refineries.
