The horror...
..the deathly fear of losing their lives.
That was the reality of January 6th. They were looking for Pelosi and Pence or whomever they could find, to capture or to kill. Does anyone thing Pelosi or Pence would have escaped unscathed if they had been captured? Would they have been treated any less brutal than the Capitol Police?
A violent mob took over our nation's Capitol as our elected officials ran for their lives. There was panic and fear. They begged the Commander-in-Chief to stop it. He ignored them. He enjoyed what was happening.
It was traumatic for everyone, including Republicans. They did not trust the mob to protect them from harm, anymore than the Democrats did.
Sometimes it helps to keep it all in perspective.
