Name and Shame White Christian Nationalism, the Ideology Behind Jan. 6
SAY THE WORDS
Democrats should insist that Republicans denounce this racist, undemocratic ideology as a danger to our country—and to Americans’ safety.

Christian nationalism believes in the enduring and dangerous “deep story” that America is a special nation divinely favored by God and entrusted to white Christians as its sovereign protectors, in order to implement and spread the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. These “Christian” values and morals are allegedly under active threat and assault by “invaders”—who presently include feminists, LGBTQ+, Jews, people of color, Muslims, immigrants, and essentially anyone who opposes their proposed theocratic state.

In this worldview, America can only be made “great” again if we return to its previous natural order, in which white Christian patriarchy reigned supreme. Violence, as blessed and rationalized by a militarized reading of the Gospel and a belief in a warrior Jesus, is justified to “take back” the country by any means necessary.

When Muslim extremists committed acts of terrorism, Republicans were adamant that we name the threat as “Islamic terrorism” and wage a cruel, relentless War on Terror that villainized Islam and Muslim communities at home and abroad as America’s enemies. However, when the violent extremists come from within their own tribe, the Republican National Committee refers to them as “ordinary citizens” who were simply engaging in a “legitimate political discourse.”

If Democrats truly want to save our democracy and guard us against the ongoing coup, then they have to name the active, violent threat that also happens to be walking within our Congressional halls.

Say it, Democrats: White Christian nationalism is a threat to our democracy, and Americans’ personal safety.

4. The same Bible that others read.

This is the fundamental problem with the Bible as a religious text and with Christianity as a religion. Same problems with Islam and Judaism.

The stories are written in prose, poetry, and allegorical structure from oral tradition. The Bible is also put together from hundreds of books that were curated at often very contentious "Councils" in the early years of the Christian Church. Already there were factions who were fighting (literally in many cases) it out to gain control of the various congregations. Books were left out, added, changed in different "versions", etc...

You can interpret the stories of the Bible to support a wide variety of views from "the loving god", to "social justice" to "fire and brimstone" types of views. People who are "seeking truth" will not find it in the Bible. They will find many things which will support their preconceived beliefs.

Apparently, "The truth shall set you broke"

That's my best guess.

How do politicians posture themselves? I DO favor strong leadership on this issue. The fights around Civil rights and the Vietnam war were not led by weak people.

Who is leading the fight against WCN?, against anti-abortion laws, against rampant assault weapons, and so on?

I drafted this earlier. Posting here.

Four Horsemen of the Crapocalypse

This started back in the Buckley/John Birch and other menace days.

When your message is old, irrelevant, and fails to persuade, then use force instead.

Increasingly irrelevant TVangelists felt the "need" for secular power.
So, under a "Gospel of Hate and Greed" they aligned with oligarchs, and politicians, and created a nonstop propaganda machine to brainwash, graft and grift.

That's the short story. For the longer version, this 8-part series at Daily Kos.
https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2021/8/6/2044226/-America-2021-The-Good-the-Bad-the-Ugly

“Democracy in Crisis: We’ve Been Headed Here for Decades.” Part 1 of 8
Read all 8 to get the pattern in detail.

And what holds it all together, racism. Racism in one form or another has been the tool of scoundrels throughout history.

Let's look at these as four horsemen.

False Prophets: Need I mention "gospel of hate?"
Civil War: our wonderful grifting politicians, who divide people in order to profit from bigwigs (divide and conquer)
Famine: but not for the wealthy -- oligarchs who tie up 99% of wealth.
Death: well, death is racism. That which gets a healthy body to fight itself.

So, there is the coalition against humanity, working for, and working with greed, hatred and lies.
Every Accusation is a Confession.
