I'm not going to share any of them here, I know you've probably seen them.
The optics. God DAMN it, the optics. Nineteen beautiful children and two of their teachers ripped apart by assault weapon fire, and all McConnell wants to talk about is how America MUST wrap a protective shield around Boof Boy.
As I have said before, HOW MANY TIMES do Republicans need to SHOW and TELL voters WHO and WHAT they are before voters will believe them?

(115,661 posts)but Moscow Mitch, like the other GOPers, misses the point entirely - which is that we wouldn't have to worry so much about the safety of Supreme Court justices, or schoolchildren, old ladies shopping for groceries, moviegoers, hospital staff, or random people on the street who are just trying to go about their lives, if there weren't so many damn guns in the hands of angry people with agendas or crackpot ideas. Regulate the fucking guns, and Justice Kavanaugh could go out for a beer or three and Granny could go to the store to buy ingredients to make cookies for her grandkids who didn't get killed at school.
People are angry at the hypocrisy of swiftly rising to protect one prominent man while Republicans in Congress have spent years ignoring the repeated threats to innocent citizens, many of them children, being mowed down by guns while just trying to go about their daily business. Mitch can tweet all he likes. It will only make people angrier.

(4,616 posts)MUST BE PASSED TODAY Needs to be quashed and never see the light of day. The SC can fend for themselves just like every kid in school does. They already have their own security. If that's not enough, tough shit, hide in the bathroom and be quiet. Boof can get his ass in the car and go buy his own protection. After all, the ONLY thing that helps against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun right!

(25,240 posts)Let's see just how bad they want the SCOTUS Security Bill. Put them on the record.
If it's good for a SC Judge - it's good for all Americans.

(25,240 posts)about 'security and protection' of SCOTUS Judges & the American People.
Keep this bill clean of any other distractions. I'm sorry - but school lunches would just give the Repugs and excuse to say that the Dems are loading up this bill with past losses.
Keep this bill 'simple'. Security and protection OR not.
What will it be Repugs? Are you for or against? Don't you care about the American People and their protection? Put up or shut up. Vote it up or down. Get them on the record. Make them attach their names to their hypocrisy.

(85,986 posts)...pouring it on right now with the nuttery isn't going to get him anywhere.
Speaker Pelosi put off debate on McConnell's bill until "maybe" sometime next week. I'd like to think she's holding out until the upcoming SC rulings on abortion and guns.

(9,067 posts)Honest question. If an anti-abortion right-winger went after RBG in this way, we'd be talking about it nonstop. We would dig into the motives, which organizations may have influenced them, what social media they were following. We'd tag half the Right with the crime and call for action to be taken. We'd find every politician who even intimated the justices' homes were fair game and start throwing paint.
That we're not is just a function of the partisanship that has seized the country. Whether or not something is a big deal is increasingly reliant on where your team stands in the event.
It should bother us if someone feels incited to go after a justice. That it doesn't is just where we are as a country now.
It's not great.
