Former SE MO Police Chief Sentenced on Civil Rights Charge

Marc F. Tragesser, 55, was police chief of Marble Hill at the time. On Nov. 25, 2018, he went to the Marble Hill home where a woman was staying. He was accompanied by the paternal grandmother of the woman’s children, and falsely claimed he had a court order allowing the grandmother to take the children.

When the woman asked to see a copy of the court order, Tragesser shoved her against the wall, knocking off her eyeglasses, and then handcuffed her. He also arrested her boyfriend.

There was no court order. Grandma was also allowed to remove items from the home.

goodness of their calling. Policemen, like so many in the military, are attracted by the weapons, the power they can exert over civilians, the respect they feel entitled to. I think the larger the police force, the greater they feel protected. Maybe we need to split the large forces into much smaller, community based outlets like the Japanese have (or had, I don't know now)...but that wouldn't work in our gun saturated society. We need to get rid of the guns.
