Multiple people shot at Columbia Machine plant in Smithsburg, Md., officials say

A shooting with multiple victims took place Thursday at the Columbia Machine manufacturing plant in Smithsburg, Md., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

"We are actively monitoring the mass shooting in Smithsburg right now, and our office is in contact with officials on the ground," tweeted Rep. David Trone (D-Md.). "If you're local, please stay away from the area as law enforcement responds."

The Washington Co. Sheriff's Office said that multiple people were shot around 2:30 p.m. and that the shooter is "no longer a threat."

Columbia Machine offers mold manufacturing, parts and repair and full consignment mold programs, according to its website.
