I went to the NRA convention with @igorvolsky and @_nicholas_b_ in 2019 to debunk one of their favorite myths and also to find out how easily a teen could buy a gun and bring it across state lines. Spoiler alert: pretty damn easily.

Of the "Across State Lines" twist to these stories or the claims like those in the Rittenhouse case. It's not against any law to transport an otherwise legal object across state lines anywhere in this country that I am aware of with I guess an exception for plants and ag products in some areas for disease and insect control issues. You can check a firearm in your luggage at the airport and take it with you if you would like.

are regulated in one state if the next state over has open access. Chicago being an excellent example of this.” Nearly 60 percent of guns recovered in Chicago come from out-of-state dealers, with more than 20 percent traced back to Indiana, according to a newly released report on the city’s violence.”
