Fox News Did Something Worse Than Not Covering Hearing
June 10, 2022 at 7:14 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Philip Bump: “When 8 p.m. Eastern rolled around, though, it became clear that the network wasn’t simply going to not cover the hearing. Instead, it began more than two hours of commercial-free rebuttal. It didn’t simply cover other things, it focused almost entirely on the hearing as though it was former president Donald Trump’s defense team — without, of course, showing its audience the prosecution’s case.”

At White House briefings. Would we let the National Enquirer in those briefs? There are some sick son’s of bitches out there, mostly GQP, that consider child porn entertainment.

"Breaking Bad" is entertainment. I will reluctantly say that "reality tv" is entertainment. Contest shows are entertainment. Fox is right wing propaganda. Sure, they try to present an engaging and entertaining format for their selected viewers, but their purpose is not to entertain, but to persuade through tactics that have been established and honed to deliver a right wing message.

I know that people have made the argument that Fox is listed as an "entertainment" agency not a "news" agency. The thing is many of the cable news channels have that same arrangement. It is what allows them to operate opinion shows next to their "hard news" shows. Rachel Maddow, as good as she may be, is not "news" she is commentary, as are Ari Melber, Don Lemon, etc...

The difference between CNN, MSNBC, and Fox is that the hosts for the former two, do not hide their bias. They let people know that they have a perspective, while Fox, insincerely tries to say they are just reporting what other agencies don't. Yeah, that is because the other agencies intersperse opinions with accurate reporting, while Fox puts the ideology before the information. They have a conclusion they want to promote and will omit, alter, or straight up lie to get to the conclusion.

To me that is not entertainment. That is propaganda, which either way, should not be given any respect in journalistic circles.

We are in an information war. Should disruptors to civilized society be censored? Are lies, illogic, paranoid conspiracies the stuff of truth and patriotism?

The Fascist Right has been chiseling away at the pillars of our freedom for years ever since the inaccurately named Moral Majority (they're neither) started pushing the Christofascism in the 80s. If we start doing our own picking at the pillars, how much more can it take before it all crashes down?

I'd love to see a rewrite of our Constitution that fixes the flaws in what we currently have. However, I do not think we can do it without those Christofascists having a say and making it worse than it currently is. We can't have a Constitutional Convention to redo because they will then codify their perversion of Christianity and resist/block/stop any plan to address inequality/racism, poverty, LGBTQ+ human rights, reproductive rights, etc.

Their Fascism must be halted so firmly that it is treated as an anathema by all. These hearings are a good way of shining daylight on the MAGA Fascism. And if we can figure out how to Constitutionally put Reich-Wing media off the air, we may have a shot of reversing course.

Fox News is all in with TFG and his supporters and if the network aired the hearings, a percentage of viewers may move to NewsMax and OAN.

Remember the blowback Fox got for being the 1st for calling Arizona for Biden?

Which is what i asked.
I don't concur, but at least your reason has some sound finance behind it.
With newsmax flailing & oan having no viewers, that crowd will be noisy & whiny but they won't abandon Faux long term.
I think they're taking a loss, period. With no financial rationale.

have their own versions of Fox News information to control the populace. One of the first things they do is to create a propaganda "news" source that they control. The next thing they do is to remove all factual sources.

This country has gone crazy. Half of it anyway.

Fox should lose their credentials. No more White House press room or live feed. They deserve no more than what the Home Shopping Network gets.
