Uvalde Survivor, 11, Hospitalized After Visiting Best Friend's Memorial

Iliana Treviño, a fourth grader at Robb Elementary School, was hospitalized with heart issues last week after visiting her best friend’s memorial, her mom told People.

Iliana was close with Amerie Jo Garza, who was among the 19 children and two teachers killed in the May 24 massacre at the Uvalde, Texas, school. Iliana was not physically harmed in the shooting, but after she visited her friend’s memorial, she told her mom she didn’t feel right.

“The hospital told me, ‘Your daughter’s going into cardiac arrest.’ And I said, ‘What?’” her mom, Jessica Treviño, told People. “Her heart [rate] skyrocketed because she couldn’t take the trauma.”

Iliana found out her friend had died when she saw her face on the news and “just started screaming and crying,” Treviño told People.

She said she believed her daughter’s condition was due to a “broken heart.”

Well, that's what it used to be called.

I wonder if hypnotism could help her, at least until she's out of danger.

Mine was not caused by trauma or sudden grief but it often is. I really wish they'd simply learn what it is -- it requires different treatment because it appears as a heart attack but it is not.

My heart is breaking for all those families and the lose. Never forget, Gym Jordon walked out of those hearings, he did not want to hear the “whining”. (New Kushner sympathy word). Like he walked out of the sports facility at OSU. He did not want to hear athletes whining about wrestlers being sexually abused.
Prayers will not help that child. If there was a loving God that protects children, they would not be dead, while trump and GQP is living well.

and a broken heart. I cry for her and all murdered by the coward with an AR-15. I rage at the cowardice of those sworn to protect those murdered. And to prevent something like this. I never thought to see a day like this...

Republicans value campaign contributions from the gun lobby more than they value the lives of our children.

IIRC, he came home after making arrangements, sat down in a chair…and died.

The survivors will be traumatized for life. Even sadder is the help that they need going forward will be unavailable or unattainable.

But….OUR GUNZ! This country cares more about the 2nd Amendment than it does about its people.

They were buried together a couple days ago. One of their four children is only 13. At least two are grown and on their own.

I feel so helpless, and a lingering sadness. I can't even wrap my brain around how the kids and parents must be feeling.
