Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsA pet peeve of mine regarding president Biden,
I watch the chyrons scroll across the screen of cable TV, Biden this and Biden that. I listen to the cable news anchors speak, Biden this and Biden that. I read posts here on DU, Biden this and Biden that.
It's fucking president Biden. Take the time to write president Biden or say president Biden.
I hear, Senator McCaskill, AG Barr, General Mattis, but I don't hear president Biden who is presently our president.
I guess by leaving off his title it makes the Magats happy who believe that president Biden is just Joe Biden.

Per the AP Stylebook:

When to Capitalize President
The AP Stylebook holds that you should capitalize president only as a formal title that is before one or more names. For example,
President Barack Obama
Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton
President should be lowercase is all other uses. Example,
The president will make an announcement tomorrow.
I am now announcing my candidacy for president.
Roosevelt was president during the Great Depression.
Full Names
According to AP Style, use the first and family name on the first reference to a current or former U.S. president or the president-elect.
former President Ronald Reagan
President Barack Obama
President-elect Barack Obama
On all subsequent references, use only last names.

(32,078 posts)It was always "Obama" or "Mr. Obama." Never "President Obama." And, it's not just on cable TV, either. The broadcast networks do it, too. I consider it intentional disrespect, especially since the had no problem regularly referring to Traitor Donald as "President."

(31,002 posts)Im afraid I do refer to the president as Joe sometimes among friends. But I have known him for years. Actually I think we are allowed to call him Joe here in Delaware

(21,290 posts)calling President Biden Joe suits him because he is a humble, common folk president.
I probably voted for (can I call him Joe now?) Joe more than most people. I voted for him in the 2008 primary, our union endorsed him. I didn't think that Barack Obama was going to win.
Maybe I'm being too picky, but with all of the nonsense about the election being stolen I feel it's in our interests to make the point when speaking about President Biden.
