COVID is in my house 😣

My teenage daughter was very sick this morning. Nausea. My wife is at home still and tested her. Positive. We are all boosted.

We’ve contacted her pediatrician. Fluids, Tylenol/Advil, if her temp goes over 104 or her chest gets congested we need to go to the ER.

She was still wearing a mask at school.

My mother in law (out of state) tested positive too. She’s in her 80’s. Just had surgery last week and was in their retirement home’s nursing home anyway. Diabetic.

Here we go. Dammit.

don't forget to ask about that covid drug that is supposed to be started within first 5 days of symptoms (maybe, especially for your MIL)

from google:

The FDA has authorized Paxlovid for anyone age 12+ who is at high risk for developing a severe case of COVID-19. “If you're pregnant, if you're obese, if you're older, if you have comorbidities or if you have underlying health issues, you should talk to your doctor about taking Paxlovid,” says Kenney.May 23, 2022

a few weeks or less. Those I know who have had it recently had the temperature for a couple of days and then a cough which lasted a few weeks before trailing off.

also a bit of a rebound fever I think maybe, but it's hard to tell if it's that or if it's just hot as hell where I am

good luck, fellow plague-experiencers!

They think he might have gotten it from his day program. He told me he has a sore throat and runny nose. But no muscles aches. He also had the first three shots. When he’s better I’ll get him the booster.

Even when you try to avoid it the Covid is hard to not catch.

Scary for your mother in law. I hope she does well. Boosters really do seem to mitigate it.

Keep us posted and take extra good care of yourself.

I’m in my 60s and I’ve never felt so fragile. And heck, in most ways that Covid affects I’m healthy as a horse. What a cruel virus this thing is. We’ve been lucky in some ways, none of us has caught it. But it’s clearly far more contagious now. I know many who have now.

Hang in there.

I was back in the office in July 2020. Skeleton crew but I was out and about.

My mother in law’s retirement home had more than one outbreak. Until now they’d dodged it.

Honestly we didn’t know what to do. There was grabbing staples as though we’d never leave the house again. There was NOT leaving the house for a long time, and monitoring all the local hospitals and nursing homes and freaking out. Then the vaccine and a long, slow climb back into the world, nervous as cats but trying.

I guess we just keep trying. ❤️

I just got my ballot in the mail for the Democratic New York State primary for governor.

I'm so disgusted by Kathy Hochul's horrible handling of the Covid pandemic that I'm researching her opponents, David Suozzi and Jumaane Williams to see their stance on Covid. Due to Kathy Hochul's inaction, many New Yorkers have died or became permanently disabled. I could never vote for her because of this.

I hope your daughter and mother-in-law feel better soon.
