Serious question.

(25,376 posts)You'd think that the purpose of gaslighting is to fool people into agreeing with you, but everyone becomes so annoyed and frustrated that they can't wait for the torture that is Kelly Anne's absurd lies and snarky insults to stop.
When she appeared on "The View" to promote her book as she did on "Real Time" tonight, Whoopi had to threaten to go to commercial several times if she didn't shut up, and I wondered if the interview was cut short because Joy made a sarcastic remark about Conway being "hauled off ... er, she had to leave." Whoopi needed the water spray her character had in SNL skits to control Meghan McCain. "View" audience booed Kelly Anne when she made a cheap shot at Biden, "Real Time" laughed at her making a fool of herself, the reaction is always negative.
Whoopi said the audience reaction gave her hope, and I agree, it's hopeful that audiences (Colbert's too) like President Biden, don't think cheap shots at him are funny, and aren't fooled by Trumpian lies.
