Comic and pundit Bill Maher lost patience with Kellyanne Conway during a heated discussion of the Jan. 6 hearing, exclaiming that former President Donald Trump is a criminal who doesnt abide by American democracy!
On Friday nights edition of HBOs Real Time with Bill Maher, the host was joined by Conway and Josh Barro, and spent an excruciating 12 minutes or so trying to keep Conway on track as she relentlessly tried to change the subject from Thursdays bombshell primetime Jan. 6 hearing to President Joe Bidens political woes.
When Barro and Maher tried to discuss the hearing as a precursor to a Justice Department criminal case, Conway pushed back, then tried to change the subject again. Maher lost it:
KELLYANNE CONWAY: Were nowhere near that. Just so were clear, these hearings are not about that. They hired a Hollywood they hired a news producer to make it a production. And thats okay. But lets not pretend that were in a courtroom her

(7,964 posts)Is he also "unconcerned" with democracy? I was told on here a couple of days ago that Maher was terrible because he would have a "friendly" interview with her. He rips her and he still gets criticized. I get sick of him spending so much time talking about woke but now I'm starting to think he has some good points on that front. No matter what he says or does, the knives or out for him, regardless of whether it's fair, or true. Just like the RWers do.

(29,073 posts)Are they all unconcerned for democracy? On both "The View" and "Real Time" hosts were exasperated and audience reaction was very negative toward Conway. The more she and Trump apologists are exposed for the fools and terrible people they are, the better. Potential voters see that.

(9,495 posts)She gish galloped all across the discussion segment of the show. It was a real waste of time for everyone else on with her.

(179,822 posts)Maher is no longer funny or relevant. I saw two clips on twitter of Maher talking to Kelly Anne (I am not going to post these links because they are stupid). Maher was an idiot to put KellyAnn on and pretending to be mad at her will not fix that mistake. KellyAnn is a disgusting human being and should not be given a platform to spread TFG's lies.
Again, Maher ceased to be funny a long time ago and I no longer care what Maher thinks about anything

SO WHAT!?!?!
He did NOT. Does that mean we should allow a delusional idiot to run about spreading lies and NOT bother charging him with crimes?
I might 'think' it would be easy to break into a bank vault. I tried - I failed - I got caught. But HEY!, I 'thought' it would be easy - NO CRIME!!!!!!!
Such a shame that we continue to give these idiots a second of air time.

(113,947 posts)infuriating and Maher firm, yet so respectful, that I'm afraid I'm going to throw my tv across the room. I haven't made it more than a few minutes into the segment.
Damn, how George ever put up with her (and no, I'm not making him any less culpable for his views, either, but at least he has a conscience). I feel for her daughter too.

(29,073 posts)gaslighting about always going back to gas prices. That was a huge joke that made the audience laugh at her.
hlthe2b
(113,947 posts)he bent over backwords to acknowledge her ridiculous comments that attempted to turn the page re: gas prices, her attacks on Dems, etc, etc. Yes. That was respectful redirection even if it had a mocking edge. Hardly "losing it with her." Just a comedian being a comedian with a RWer who, he has had history with and apparently wants to appease sufficiently that she keeps coming on.
So, yes. He was, in that context, overly respectful of her.

(113,947 posts)consider a little respectful disagreement as well. "No, wrong" is hardly a counterargument. Beyond that, if you read the thread, most agree with mE.

(113,947 posts)with rank RWer and Trump-lying-apologist, Kellyanne Conway?
Are you saying those who disagree with his interview techniques on this thread (and agree with me) are NOT DEMOCRATS? Go ahead, if that is your attitude towards others here, feel free to spell it out. I have no idea what I or anyone else on this thread have said or done to earn such scarcely veiled contempt, but feel free to express yourself.
On edit, since you edited your subject line while I was gone:
to accuse me of saying something I have never said--that Bill Maher (per you) "is corrupt."
You need to reply to those who you think actually said such statements and stop finding one poster to be your punching bag. I don't know what is going on with you today, but it needs to stop.

(29,073 posts)Conway was on "The View" and many other shows to promote her book, as are many people promoting their books. Are all the shows she's been on libertarian and right-wing?
LOL personal attack.
hlthe2b
(113,947 posts)your implying those with whom you disagree-- are not Democrats, most certainly are. Maher, himself votes Dems (who with any sanity would not) but he, himself has admitted he is more a libertarian.
I never stated he did not try to mock or counter her--only that he did not "meltdown" and he was too respectful. You seem to be reading into my comments about things that are not there.
I do hope your day goes better and that when you return to any conversation with me you have a bit more perspective. We can disagree without being disagreeable. Democrats do that. Republicans don't allow that.
I don't recall such a strident discussion with you, wherein you suggest I'm not a Democrat. I hope this is the only time you engage in such.
Have a better day.
Maher isn't a libertarian or right wing.
