I'm pretty sure we can expect losing the House and Senate and history pretty much puts the cork in that for us anyway. Right now we're being beaten to death with the price of gas which who knows might just be big oil choosing our new leadership for us this November, scary.
On the bright side we still have Joe and the almighty power of the pen to help keep republonazis in check till 24. So as I look at it we have 2 yrs from Nov to turn things back in our favor, but how exactly will it be done is the question???????

(5,555 posts)We're losing ground with Latino voters, and a significant reason why is social issues. There are a lot of Catholics and other social conservatives in that demographic. While this needs more attention, it's a complex issue that doesn't have an easy or fast solution.
What we can help and urgently need to make our focus - is economic hardships.
Inflation is a huge issue and pain point. While blaming it on corporate greed might have quite a bit of truth to it, it's an excuse and doesn't actually help alleviate the pain.
Joe needs to suspend collection of the Federal gas tax immediately. He needs to pressure states to suspend theirs as well. We need to be pushing economic relief packages 24/7 and placing huge pressure on our own obstructionists and the Pubs to directly help the American people.
Worse, gas prices and soaring housing and electric costs hurts suburban voters particularly hard. They are more likely to have long commutes and less viable mass transit options. They have larger homes with higher energy usage. We need those suburban districts overall, but especially for the House.
The 1/6 commission isn't going to save us.
Outrage over abortion isn't going to save us.
It's the economy, stupid!

Only with Republican cheating are the midterms a lost cause at this point. Theyll try. Well try not to let them (or give up now, if theres anyone out there who really considers that an option).

(1,666 posts)Yes, there is absolutely rigging in republican favor due to gerrymandering, but if blue gets enough voters put it isnt over.
But
it will be hard. People that have to work normal jobs and live paycheck to paycheck, which is most people, are suffering full on from the gas gouging and inflation. They are making money to spend on gas to drive to work to make more money to be able to afford gas to drive to work again. Then groceries are expensive and rent is way up.
From the pandemic to this earnings survival to politics, people are on edge, so outbursts like road rage and shootings go up.
Will all that overtake the fall of Roe?
People must be made to understand how goddamn important these next two elections are. If you can vote, you need to vote. Standing in line for a day is worth the future of this nation.

(549 posts)I just paid 6.05 a gallon for heating oil today, I only ordered 100 gallons because of the astronomical price. My home uses 240 gallons a month in the winter. October is when many households get their first big fuel oil delivery. Do the math and think about the timing
