YET big money is still being grifted on it by politicians who are using it to keep sucking from the cult that was created by - of course - the big lie - and the big lie came from the biggest liar of all. There are still over 100 repuke pols who will continue to push the big lie. Stepien - team normal, he says - is working to have his candidate unseat Liz Cheney! You can't make this stuff up!
I don't know whether to feel sorry for the grifted cult who have clearly been brainwashed - or to continue to be incredulous at their continued ignorance.
Can the media stay focused on this and stop playing "both sides do it", I wonder? Clearly only ONE side does it - did it - and is still doing it.

(81,466 posts)It's not that they CAN'T get it. They WON'T. They don't want to. They'll just keep on refusing delivery.
I imagine over the next week or so, with more hearings, and Pox Noise even caving and airing this one today (Monday 6/13/22), the hearings will be increasingly unavoidable.
I wish they were all in prime time, but I just heard on the air that the Watergate hearings weren't on in prime time, and MAN did they ever pack a bunch, ANYWAY. And at a time when all we had were three main TV networks, and network news on once a day during the dinner hour. And EVERYBODY knew about the Watergate hearings and had at least seen clips.
Well, NOW, we have umpteen news and "news" networks, and cable, and affiliates all over everywhere showing clips and reruns and talking head commentary up the ying yang. It will be unavoidable. Whether long-form or short soundbites. Wonder if Pox Noise will air the rest of the hearings since they caved, today. It'd be good to reach THAT audience, too.
This is gonna seep out, whether it's wanted and taken seriously or not. Whether minds are open or closed. They're STILL gonna hear about it, and read about it, and maybe even finally break down and sneak a peek. After all, this was only the second hearing. I think there are five more.

(237 posts)I'd come home from school, ask Mom what lies the Republicans tried to tell so far, and sit down to watch them.
They interrupted her Soap Operas, and my afternoon cartoons (I was 10).

Btw - just out of curiosity, I looked to see what Pox did. They also wrote up what looked like a brief summary around the top of the hour. No word, though, on whether they'll carry the next hearing(s) - at least not yet, as of a little after 2pm, pacific time on Monday the 13th. I'll check.

I'm hoping they'll air it on other days, too.
The word WILL get out. Even if only in pieces. And it WILL raise more questions. Hopefully opening a few more eyes and minds at the same time.

(10,242 posts)money. Its hard for me to imagine someone that dishonest; they all say it with a straight face. There are a few like my pillow guy who actually believe it, but even TFG doesnt really believe it.

Maybe that's it. They can be bought, and they have been. The very fact that they're tiptoeing around because they mainly want to be reelected speaks volumes. They'd rather do what benefits them than what is in the best interests of the country and their constituents. What's best for what we say we are as Americans, and what we say America is. They'd rather do what profits them than follow the truth.
Seems to me that's all you really need to know about that bunch. If their #1 priority is getting reelected, and that's what governs all their moves, then they're in it for themselves first, and the people second. Or later. If possible (or convenient). Maybe.
Amazing that only Cheney and Kinzinger are in it for the country, and for honesty, and for democracy. At least that's what their behavior on this issue shows. And one of 'em won't be back next term (Kinzinger). The other, I understand, is facing a challenge engineered by BILL STEPIEN! Of all people. Whose mug we saw on TV during this morning's hearing in recorded interviews because he's with his wife who's going through labor (he claims, anyway). Evidently, Bill Stepien is heading the campaign of Cheney's Republican challenger in Wyoming*.
*I looked it up. From the "well, how 'bout that?!" department!
Ex-Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien will no longer appear before January 6 committee Monday
By Kaitlan Collins, Manu Raju, Jamie Gangel and Kate Sullivan, CNN
Updated 10:32 AM ET, Mon June 13, 2022
... Stepien is currently advising the campaign of Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, who is challenging Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming in the state's GOP primary. Cheney is a vocal Trump critic who voted to impeach him and is the vice chairwoman of the January 6 committee. Stepien's firm has received more than $190,000 from Hageman's campaign this election cycle for strategy and fundraising consulting and video production, according to federal election filings.

(2,542 posts)This wasn't TFG and his closest buds trying to overturn the election and lying about the big lie. This was a coordinated effort across multiple states - and likely hundreds of actors.
Will they show us how many states had alternate electors on stand by? Ready to step up if votes weren't certified?
Will they ever show the individuals who were responsible in each of those states? I'm 99% certain Mastriano was leading Camp Treason in PA - but who else was involved?
This is some pretty scary stuff and these hearings should be held in several states as well.

(3,249 posts)I mainly read CNN in the morning before work, and they've consistently called out the Big Lie for ages using those precise words, and not just in editorials or opinion pieces. Say what you will about Chris Cillizza, but he regularly does analysis pieces that systematically dismantle the most recent dispatches from Trumpworld, including taking Trump's exact statements, dissecting them, and instead presenting the truth, usually while relentlessly mocking Trump in the bargain.
I also haven't seen any reporting from CNN that comes anywhere near "both sides do it" with regard to... well, anything Trump did or tried to do, up to and including 1/6/21.
So I guess I'm just not seeing what you're seeing or I'm not understanding your criticism of CNN.
