OP
Yeah, I still don't know what this means, though. Does it mean you trust Biden to make the changes

(15,759 posts)4. President Biden is in charge of immigration federal laws.
As president, he has a lot of room to run the immigration program in the country. Trump did as well. Luckily President Biden changed all of Trumps crap.

in charge of his administration's policies for following federal law. But he is not in charge of the federal laws.

It wasn't close. 8-1. (Well, more 8.5 - 0.5 since Breyer partially concurred and partially dissented).
The other opinion associated the case was written by Alito and also had a bipartisan mix.
The question before the court was whether the post-removal order statute authorized his prolonged detention, and if so, whether the government was required to provide a bond hearing before an immigration judge after six months of detention. In such a hearing, an immigration judge would consider the traditional bail hearing criteria of dangerousness and flight risk to determine whether a noncitizen should be released under federal supervision, in exchange for payment of a bond, pending resolution of the underlying immigration proceedings.
In an opinion by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the court held that the text of the relevant statutory provision, Section 1231(a)(6), does not obligate the government to provide bond hearings after six months of detention. Seven other justices joined Sotomayors opinion in full. Justice Stephen Breyer concurred in part and dissented in part.
