Have they finally got the word that they have to abandon TFG and let him go down?

I'm thinking that the Repug Party finally is beginning to realize that TFG is a big albatross hanging around the neck of the Party like a big anvil.

Time to jettison TFG or risk 2022 and 2024 power grab by the Repugs.

4. The Republicans are between a rock and a hard place

If they admit to the truth, they certainly will lose a significant percentage of their far right voters. Without them, they can't win.
They would love to be able to wait out the fall elections before coming around. Then, when the politicians are forced to admit the truth, they will swear to heaven that they never supported Trump, that he was always a bad man, that they knew it all along, and that they were working behind the scenes to thwart his actions.
