Andrea Mitchell was getting *dragged* on Twitter this morning.

MSNBC screwed up by not setting Mitchell aside and having someone competent handle the daytime coverage. It will be interesting to see what happens Wednesday... if anyone is still bothering to watch MSNBC that day.

Dr. Vicki Hayes @WonderfulwomanK
I had to turn off @MSNBC , because Andrea Mitchell is pushing "the economy" on us as the issue people really care about. News media are complicit in MAKING that the issue instead of whether we lose our democracy or not. Will be watching the @January6thCmte hearing on @cspan.

I can’t believe this would be a controversial statement but it will be — inflation is not as big a problem as a U.S. President trying to overthrow the results of an election and inciting an attack on the U.S. Capitol.

So the general consensus is "I can't or won't watch Andrea Mitchell".
Way to go @MSNBC
You're alienating your own viewers bc you won't listen. That's ok, you don't need our ratings, right? It's a good thing bc mine go to @PBS
Welcome to holding the media accountable.

Gee Whiz! If we Dems, especially Biden, campaign on "forget the economy, focus on the 'loss of our democracy' that didn't happen" then:

1) Biden will lose
2) A Repuke POTUS will appoint more conservative judges and justices
3) Repukes will further f-up the economy, as usual
4) We Will surely lose our democracy

Andrea is an ass, and always will be. That being said, I don't need Andrea's snobby-toned speeches to figure out that the Media is isn't pushing the economy as the big issue. Inflated commodity prices, lesser disposable income, unaffordable housing, and the higher bills in Americans' faces are doing an excellent job of that! Friends, family, colleagues, and strangers tell me this everyday. Y'all trying to convince the American people to focus on what you think (and rightfully so) is the most important issue; and their day-to-day experiences are screening you out. Then you want to blame the Media. Sheesh.

Look, my economic situation is wonderful. House, rental house, car, student loans...all paid off. Credit score consistently over 800, and credit card balances are completely paid off at the end of every month. I fill up the gas tank and pay my taxes without any reservation. I can Financially afford to place the Jan. 6 events at #1. Dems got my vote! But I'm in the economic minority, especially amongst my fellow Black Americans. Still, I refuse to imitate Haughty-Taughty folks like Dr. Vicky Hayes (whoever the hell she is), folks who can't (or refuse to) relate of Americans with more pressing needs for basic necessities. We Dems better get in touch with, address, and resolve the people's highest priorities, and not what she wants their priorities to be.

Thankfully, Biden isn't listening to Dr. Vicky Hayes (whoever the hell she is) and is putting more effort into the economy than any other issue.

I signed up to stream live tv via Hulu just for these hearings. I’ll unsubscribe when they’re over. I didn’t think that I would be able to see the hearings on YouTube or anywhere else and I was worried that I would miss them… I think they’re very important to watch. My apolitical spouse has been coming home early from work to watch them in fact. Surprisingly, when I got to my office this morning, hubs was sitting at my desk with Hulu on my laptop watching the hearings. It’s worth it to subscribe for that reason alone.

Is a vote for competent leadership AND a vote to save democracy.

The media needs to explain to people what causes inflation so that they can understand what a President can and can’t do about it. Whenever votes are taken in Congress, they should show the breakdown of votes by party. They should tell voters what Republicans say they will do to stop inflation (so far, they have said nothing; they have no plan).

Stop coddling childlike viewers who are just want to be mad at someone, and help educate them.

Education or experience themselves on finance and economic issues (Stephanie Ruhle and Ali Velshi are exceptions). They don’t understand, so they can’t explain it. Another problem is deadlines. They have to do a wide variety of stories with little time to investigate in depth. OTOH, they could call in experts to help, which they often do on other topics, and given that this is a recurring issue, they should get a handle on it.

HRC made a comment about how wrong she thought Alan Greenspan had been on several matters. I agreed with her. In less than 24 hours, Andrea Mitchell - who is NOT an economist - was savaging HRC over her comments. On Air. On NBC. During her reporting on other matters. She was relentless and viscious in her remarks. I was stunned. How could NBC allow her to get away with that ? If Greenspan had spoken up that would have been another matter, but to hear Andrea Mitchell shoot her mouth off like that, infuriated me. I wrote to NBC to voice my opinion. I never heard from them.

I have never been a fan of Mitchell, but that incident proved to me that she was not an impartial reporter, incapable of putting aside her personal opinions and reporting the news straight out. I am not interested in hearing her personal axe to grind.

Her croaking voice is like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. She frequently stumbles over her words and incoherently tries to regroup. It's past time for NBC to take her off the air. There is viable, vibrant young talent at NBC just waiting in the wings to shine. People with intelligence, wit and a far better understanding of history than Mitchell ever displayed.

NBC -- If you're listening -- we viewers are telling you what we want. Drop Andrea Mitchell.

And if they are tied up, I'll try to hit PBS.

Since CSPAN & CSPAN2 are committed to coverage of regular House/Senate sessions (and many of their hearings) and the House gaveled in at noon ET today (where CSPAN had to cut away for that), I switched to CSPAN2 (where the Senate was expected to gavel in at 3 pm ET, after the hearing was done) and saw the remainder of the hearing. Whenever both chambers are in session and there's a big hearing, CSPAN3 will usually cover it. And if not near a TV, I can usually stream it with the CSPAN Radio app (or on my SiriusXM radio), which will often broadcast those hearings even with the House in session.

Last Thursday I did go to MSNBC with the "night crew" after the hearing adjourned.

Don't have to suffer through the same talking head bloviators who demand a cut away from the coverage so they can "comment". With today's session, since people had forewarned about Mitchell, I went to CNN when the hearing was done.

Mitchell and Schmuck Toad are the detritus still left at MSNBC/NBC that need to go the way of Tweety.
